We “Do Not Consider Perry a Factor… We Know Who it is Who Will be Our Nominee”
Race 4 2012 ^ | October 4, 2011 | Matt Coulter

Posted on 10/05/2011 1:03:21 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

Fellow bundler and sideline-sitter John Catsimatidis added, “I’m going to go with Mitt Romney. I don’t think Perry has it in him to do it. He’s a lot better than Sarah Palin, but not a lot lot better.”

Ouch.

In related news, Romney also scored another major fundraiser from the Draft Christie movement: Ken Langone. Langone is the founder of Home Depot and is described as a “titan” in the political money scene. He backed Rudy Giuliani in 2008, helping Giuliani out raise the other candidates. There is evidence that a great deal of the money that had sat on the sidelines so far in this race will now fall into Romney’s coffers.

Rick Perry, for his part, got the endorsement of another Draft Christie member: Gary Kirke, a west Iowa investor and casino owner who had also been sitting on the sidelines until this afternoon.

Afraid to answer the many posts I have made? Seems so, you duck them with snark just like this EVERY TIME.

I think you're describing a board game on a conveyor belt Palin's played in her dreams.

That she'll step onto it presently poised as a public contestant would.

In which case the Republic shall be saved.

America is ready for an adventure film with an upbeat ending--and audience participation.

Cute. I KNOW Sarah Palin has been a target. I posted (as I’m sure you know) articles and vanity posts about her for years. But I believe Gov. Rick Perry is a better choice and why I’ve been doggedly vetting him here on FR.

Ok. Now you are getting silly. You clearly are a drunk. There is no way that Ricardo is better than Governor Palin. You are either hitting the bong or drunk or both.

And you miss Perry’s game if you call him an outsider. He’s for sale to anyone who’ll buy, and that’s the GOP Establishment (see: the TTC) often enough

You should work for the Washington Post.

The governor battled environmentalist activists and Democratic Party politics in his push for more transportation infrastructure in a state exploding with commerce and population.

“I’m getting visions of Bob Dole all over again....”

OMG Yes!!!!!! I have been trying to think of who Mittens reminds me of ... and it’s Bob Dole. Great guy. Presidential? Fire in the belly? Think again.

Aside from whether he’s a RINO, it is POINTLESS to go with Mittens because he will NOT win. Full disclosure: I think Cain is absolutely the guy who could win, if only he could reach the ballot.

I didn’t say to give to Perry, but your second choice candidate, which in my case is Perry.

Romney-nuff said.
Baachman is not strong enough to win the nomination.
Huntsman is too liberal.
The rest don’t count for much.

“You should work for the Washington Post. “

How much are you paid for your posts promoting Rick Perry?

You are Perry’s Chief apologist on FR

What was I when I posted for Sarah Palin?

I posted an invitation on 3 threads for Palin supporters to come check out Perry. I do not go on Palin threads like you and the others do to me.

If Romney is the nominee, then I don’t bother going to the polls to vote

So if it's not your choice, you'll give your vote to Obama.

Brilliant.

(to self: these people are as much a problem as the establishment pubbies - geeze)

Thanks.....I would still give to Bachmann or Santorum way before Perry.....I would not even vote for Ricardo for President in the general. If Republicans are dumb enough to nominate Romney or Perry than they deserve whatever happens in the next four years. Romney, Perry and Obama are the exact same person.

FUGOP.

Romney has not proven he has the stones to take on Obama. Hell, he is Obama-lite.

What is the difference between them?

The RINOS are leaking this to discourage any more entrants, especially from Alaska. Remeber Babs Bush comment that Sarah Palind should stay in Alaska.

Pretty rich from a family that has done more to set conservatism back thirty years than anyone. And they are supposedly on OUR side.

If the GOP goes to Romney, it will be the last election the GOP is a factor in.

Obama will dust Romney in the general, especially with the vote fraud already in place. Then kiss America good-bye.

We have already seen this play, in 2008, with divemaster McQueeg.

Only an outsider from DC can bring real change. And that’s Sarah Palin.

Poor Babs will have a fit when Sarah announces.

Did you see the thread about Cain being tied with Romney at 17% now and Perry falling 12% points, in the past two weeks?

Perry’s a corrupt crony capitalist who has got to and held onto his position by selling out to the highest bidder as much as by his smarts or a coherent political philosophy.

Look how quickly he called us out for being “heartless” racists, discriminating against people by their “last names”? How he defended his Gardasil mandate because he’ll always choose on the side of “protecting life”? (That’s an authoritarian impulse big-government compassionate conservative for you. Nurse Bloomberg has the same impulse, except he’s “protected” far more lives with anti-smoking, low-sodium and low-fat initiatives in NYC.)

In short, Perry is compromised, like Mitt, in campaigning against the Obamacare mandates, but also even more than Mitt against campaigning against Obama’s big-spending cronyism. And he is less able to hold his own in a debate or speaking off the cuff than Romney is.

(Big hint here: Palin is the one with the credibility to campaign against Obamacare’s mandates and Obama’s big government corruption.)

And, finally, Perry is a more viable candidate than Cain is.

“I posted an invitation on 3 threads for Palin supporters to come check out Perry. I do not go on Palin threads like you and the others do to me.”

Because you are posting flat out lies. AND JIM SMACKED YOU DOWN for your BS on the Palin threads in question. Now you show me a single series of posts that ‘I’m ‘hatin’ on ol’ Rick’ just to stir the pot. Never happened. My opposition is based in fact, as are my posts.

I pinged him as a courtesy. His reaction to your Palin ‘invitation’ about a month back (an ‘olive branch’ I believed you called it at the time) was not a positive one. You really need to stop trying to cover your tracks.

No but that is fantastic news.....anything to get rid of Ricardo and Romney. Can’t even believe that they were a consideration......

I’m getting visions of Bob Dole all over again....same people same money...........not good

Yep with Romney or Perry that will be the likely scenario all the way down to having two north east liberals {Snowe & Collins for example} keynoting at the 2012 GOP Convention.
