It would seem, that Gov. Perry obviously was attracting too much attention from black voters and conservatives.

were hailed as ultimate proof that GOP conservatives really do believe in merit, not color. This is hardly the case. The record of GOP leaders and officials on diversity has been abominable and their relentless war against affirmative action programs

Funny, I don't equate merit with affirmative action. Somehow, I wonder if the writer of this piece is an example of the later, given he can't see the difference.

CW, stop. You’re doing Gov. Perry no favors by beating this dead horse with article after article. The media ran a gotcha story that backfired.

I don’t think it hurts Perry in a Republican primary, and it certainly didn’t help Cain that he bought into the media trap laid for him.

Acknowledge that and let it go.

You’re fanning the flames of a dead story. All you’re doing at this point is making people wonder if there’s fire to all this smoke you’re blowing...

""Perry refused to raise the income standard to allow more needy families to be eligible for the joint federal and state health care program. took the caps off of tuition at the state’s major universities and colleges, and under the guise of radical cost cutting measures to reduce the state’s budget deficit hacked away funding and programs for health, prenatal care, and various income support programs. Those hurt as always were minorities and the poor.""

We didn't have the money to do more without raising taxes, significantly, and/or giving more control to D.C.

That would have hurt the minorities and the poor -- and our children and grandchildren more than cost-cutting to hold down taxes.

Perry wrote:

”A new culture of do-something-it is now trumps any constitutional restraint and feeds the political beast in Washington, and each generation of national politicians wants to expand government, failing to truly address the problems created by the previous generation’s expansion of government. “

Good work CW.

Without your posts we wouldn’t read anything in depth
about Perry, let alone anything good and constructive.

Any person, like Hutchinson, who supported a candidate who attended a church of a racist, anti-American pastor for twenty years and who also consorts with known racists like members of the New Black Panther Party should keep their mouths shut. People living in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

GOVERNOR RICK PERRY: Gun control is hitting the target you're aiming at.......

Mitt Romney: We do have tough gun control laws in Mass. I support them and will not chip away at them.
