""Perry refused to raise the income standard to allow more needy families to be eligible for the joint federal and state health care program. took the caps off of tuition at the state’s major universities and colleges, and under the guise of radical cost cutting measures to reduce the state’s budget deficit hacked away funding and programs for health, prenatal care, and various income support programs. Those hurt as always were minorities and the poor.""

We didn't have the money to do more without raising taxes, significantly, and/or giving more control to D.C.

That would have hurt the minorities and the poor -- and our children and grandchildren more than cost-cutting to hold down taxes.

Perry wrote:

”A new culture of do-something-it is now trumps any constitutional restraint and feeds the political beast in Washington, and each generation of national politicians wants to expand government, failing to truly address the problems created by the previous generation’s expansion of government. “

Good work CW.

Without your posts we wouldn’t read anything in depth
about Perry, let alone anything good and constructive.

Any person, like Hutchinson, who supported a candidate who attended a church of a racist, anti-American pastor for twenty years and who also consorts with known racists like members of the New Black Panther Party should keep their mouths shut. People living in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Dittos TP2U.

CW, keep on this. It also needs to be shouted to the rooftops about Gov. Perry's taking in thousands of displaced African-Americans during Hurricane Katrina, an act that took a tremendous amount of compassion and courage, given the burden it would place on his state.

Yes. The state of Texas welcomed thousands and untold numbers of those Katrina victims (really victims of the Democratic Party) stayed in Texas and never looked back.

GOVERNOR RICK PERRY: Gun control is hitting the target you're aiming at.......

Mitt Romney: We do have tough gun control laws in Mass. I support them and will not chip away at them.

Good. You can’t tell the difference, so you’re happy.

I don’t think it hurts Perry in a Republican primary

If Perry's supporters can defend Perry pandering to La Raza and everything else he's done over the years, they'll defend anything.

Yeah. It would be nice if Republicans fought back against it en masse. As it is, many of them fall into the apologies etc, and helped to keep the game going.
