Man allegedly assaults boyfriend over dispute about their dog

An illegal immigrant from Mexico was arrested Saturday after he allegedly assaulted his boyfriend with a weapon after the couple had a dispute over their dog.

Martin Ramos Contreras, 39, is being held without bond on a first-degree felony of aggravated assault on a date with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint and interfering with an emergency call. Bond has not been set because of his alleged immigration status. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement has placed an immigrations hold on Contreras' status.

Midland County deputies responded to a disturbance on the 5100 block of North A Street Saturday morning. Upon arrival, Contreras told officers he and his boyfriend had gotten into a fight about using clippers on their dog. The disturbance escalated and became physical when the other man attempted to leave the apartment, according to Contreras' arrest report.

When deputies arrived at the residence, Contreras allegedly confirmed to police the details of the attack and said he was an illegal immigrant. He added that he falsified his paperwork to get a job at the Olive Garden on Loop 250. The paperwork was retrieved by deputies and turned over to ICE for immigrations charges.

There is now a job opening for citizens...

I prefer a “dog with a purpose”...i.e. WORKING DOGS. JMO. Grew up having farm/hunting dogs. Nothing like ‘em!
