NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City police say about 500 protesters have been arrested after they swarmed the Brooklyn Bridge and shut down a lane of traffic for several hours.

Police say some demonstrators spilled onto the roadway Saturday night after being told to stay on the pedestrian pathway. They face disorderly conduct and other charges. The lane has since reopened.

Occupy Wall Street demonstrators are railing against corporate greed, global warming and social inequality, among other grievances.

The group has been camped near the Financial District for two weeks and clashed with police on earlier occasions.

Earlier Saturday, two other marches went over the bridge without problems.

There is probably some truth to your comments, but I don’t think you can paint them all with such a broad brush. As far as my FB friends are concerned, they are people I grew up with and I am interested to read their updates. I don’t vet them through politics.

As far as occupy wall street is concerned, their mission “Occupy Wall Street is an ongoing demonstration opposing negative corporate influence over U.S. politics and a lack of legal repercussions over the global financial crisis.” They are more Ron Paul than Karl Marx, though I have no doubt the Paul bots are being used and the commies are prevalent as well. There is common ground with the Paul bots. If I were to show up tomorrow with a don’t tread on me sign and the media took a picture, would that make it a tea party rally? No. Fact is it is a disorganized mess of pissed off people for a multitude of reasons. Not all commies, though the commies are gladly taking all the credit.

While it is true that Wall street banks have Raped this country by committing fraud, and breaking laws...and getting away with it all.

Most people's minds are far too small and rigid to understand that Wall Street banks employ some of the most honest, most professional individuals anywhere. They have to have trustworthy employees. I've worked with them.

Salesmen in every business are known to lie, not just investments and banking.

No, I think you should turn your criticism to congress and the people make and enforce the rules.

I'd guess it's 90% commies, liberals, leftists, "progressives", and anarchists, with a few confused libertarians sprinkled in.

I am sure they are honest and believe they do the right thing, but they are human. They make the rules, own the politicians, are infested in allthe levels and all branches of government, and have absolute power. That is not even close to capitalism. Just recall how TARP played out...

This is the overly simplistic, leftwing political opportunist version of things. And I don't know how "captilism" entered the discussion -- I was referring to the integrity of the bulk of the Wall Street work force.

On threads such as this one it's easy to discern the deadbeat posters who defaulted on their mortgages and credit card loans.

Fact is it is a disorganized mess of pissed off people for a multitude of reasons.

Yeah, I don't buy that. It's mostly a bunch of college mushheads, left over hippies and leftists of various stripes (who tend to show up at all protests like this) who are just looking for a reason to protest, rebel a little, feel important by taking the lazy way out, and generally hang out and maybe get laid.

There is nothing really separating this protest from any other lefty protest. The same old groups are there, the same old anti-capitalist message, etc, etc.

Supposedly the one thing that sets this apart is "anonymous" driving some of it. Hactivists are the latest left wing protest craze. The problem is most people don't have a clue what "anonymous" actually is, mistaking it for a real protest group when in reality it's just /b/tards doing it for the lulz.

That's pretty much it. There is no regular people there. This isn't drawing the middle class or even the working class. Some unions are providing some support, but this sort of protest is filled with the same old lefties spouting the same old gibberish. And yes, there are some Ron Paul types there too as they make sure everyone can see their signs. For me, that is just another reason to dislike Ron Paul and his supporters.

I will say this though. There is, I think, a certain anger in the country aimed generally at what people perceive are high rolling financial types (traders, hedge fund managers, bank CEO's) who seem to do well no matter how much they screw up. TARP and the various bailouts did feed into this. People don't really know how to direct their anger so often just think very generically of Wall Street. The left tries to divert this anger into anti-capitalist rage, and we now see Hussein trying to play the populist anti-fat cat class warrior.

LOLOLOLOL

Not saying their are not some honest ones. But the major wall street banks And companies like Bear Stearn’s are nothing but outright lawbreaking thieves. And it was not enough that there schemes in housing and derivatives destroyed the world. Then they came along and stole almost a trillion from US taxpayers. Stole the savings value and interest from all Americans through there planted people in the FED, and Treasury. Even created mechanisms by which countries like Greece could illegally hide their debt and keep borrowing till it was too late. And that was not enough...They made sure that they planted people in the enforcement agencies and congressional committees so that they would not go to jail. And they lie on their balance sheets with the blessing of the Federal Government. More laws were broken than you can shake a stick at, and basically no one other than Madoff was prosecuted. They misrepresented and sold Crap to Fanny and Freddie. They made up phony MBS’s. Paid the ratings agencies to give them a fake rating. Produced fake Mortgage and foreclosure documents in assembly line style(still are). Sold some of the mortgages to more than one person. Broke state law, and avoided taxes via MERS. Forever screwed up home titles. Back dated documents. Robo signed. Bribed congress through “Donations”, and favors That’s a lot of people that belong in Prison. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Go do some research and then get back to me. Maybe you will figure it out when the entire economic (And American) system goes down because of what they are doing. And Yes Our leaders are just as guilty. Oh and look up Glass-Steagall and the act that repealed it. Guess who pushed to repeal it(A certain Ex treasury secretary who was the CEO of a Certain Wall Street bank at the time). Guess which party the bill is named after. If that bill had not been repealed then most all of this would not have happened. It certainly would not have been pinned on the American people to bail them out. Guess when all the MBS’s and Fraud Began?

WAKE UP!
