The Fat Guy and the Skinny Guy: More Alike Than They Appear
American Thinker ^ | October 1, 2011 | James V Capua

For all their contrasting looks, Chris Christie and Barack Obama are alike in one critical respect: both are the kind of politician endangered elites offer up when they correctly perceive their power threatened. To preserve their dominance, establishments seek above all to protect the orthodoxies they have enshrined and the trends they have fostered. By doing so, they maintain the interests of those they depend upon critically for support, and they limit the damage that challengers can cause. This stasis is sold by wrapping it artfully in the bright colors and shimmering bows of novelty.

Christie's speech at the Reagan Library was nothing more than a McCain-ish "we need to cross the isle" speech...talk about "leadership is compromise." Blehhhh

May the Republican establishment have their heads handed to them.

Is anyone else wondering just who is so urgently begging Christie to run?
And why?

Ann Coulter. Because she turned on by a 50” waist? No because he has crushed the public service unions in NJ and she says they are a threat greater than the USSR.

Some of the ‘urgers’ are agribusiness-types from Iowa, headed up by Bruce Rastetter, partner of the notorious A. J. “Brother Jack” Decoster. No doubt they are looking to preserve ag-related subsidies and the endless supply of cheap labor by illegals. Makes me say HELL NO to Christie!

I liked Christie’s handling of the unions and the budget, but other than that, he is just another northeastern RINO. As soon as they say they believe in man made global warming, you know that they have be bought. I would lump Christie in with Romney, Huntsman, and Gringrich.

All we need to know about Christie is that George Bush’s family is begging him to run.
This is why I would never vote for him.
We need a conservative not a quasi-Republican.

Because they realize that Romney is not cutting it so they are sending in the second string. Murdoch has been proping up Romney for months, that debate was a set up to destroy Perry (look at the soft ball questions, they allowed him to talk way after the bell rang, and everyone on the stage plus the moderators piled on Perry). They wounded Perry, but they didn't knock him out. I'm stunned at how many here called him RINO.

Perry is not a smooth talker, Christie is. I know people here love Cain, but the ability of him to survive depends on the quarter report that will come out on the candidates by the 15th of October. It's not fair, but it's real. If you can't convince the big money contributors that you can go all the way, how would you convince the world leaders to go with your proposals. Smooth talking is not enough, you have to have programs, plans, a track record and the ability to swim with the sharks and survive.

I watched that debate very carefully three times, and Perry definitely was his own worst enemy. If the guy can’t think on his feet he is no different than the tall skinny guy in the WH. No thank you.

I agree that Mr. Cain will need the financial support of the moneyed crowd, the “old” moneyed crowd that runs the shadow government. But Perry won’t get it either. I am concerned that it is probably that element who are urging Christie to run. There may be a good position for Christie in a Cain administration, but Chri8stie is not presidential material either.

Reading “Family of Secrets” is bone chilling.

>>>Is anyone else wondering just who is so urgently begging Christie to run?

It’s the media, and Republican establishment.

>>>And why?

The media likes him because he throws occasional bombs with his mouth, and the establishment likes him because they fear conservatives - and Christie ain’t conservative.

When Perry had the bad debate (2 in a row) I thought about backing Cain. But then I thought about 4 things.

1. He has recently been a talk radio host (so yeah, he's quite good at talking)
2. He never went against Romney even once, and then I found out he supported Romney in the primary in 2008 and said he could back Romney this time but not Perry (??????????????)
3. He will never be able to raise enough money to go against Barack Obama
4. We already have someone in office with no political experience and track record and that didn't work out real well.

Remember, to most in the country Obama sounded really good, said all the right things in all the right ways and it's been a disaster. The chances of the country doing that again are slim and none. Will they vote Obama? No, they'll stay home.

No, Obama NEVER looked good to me. My spirit was replled at first sight. Having studied communism and helplssly watchig it infiltrate America’s institutions through many yearsl I knew exactly what he would do to my beloved country! And we are all being damaged by what he is doing.

1. Herman Cain has the endorsement of limbaugh, Levin, and several other major talk show hosts so far.

2. Mr. Cain is a Christian. Mr. Romney is not. I doubt with all Herman Cain has accomplished in his illustrious career that he has had much time to study Mormonism! He knows a debate is where one expounds his views, (or one side of a topic) not to attack the others on the [panel. I doubt Cain would base his choice on religion even if he knew.I think Mr. Cain admired what Romney did in Utah.

3. Though money is important, it is not everything. The Cain campaign so far has done well in the fund raising department, and as he rises in the polls, it will improve exponentially.

4. But you are not taking into consideration that Barack Obama is a Communisst! His agenda is pulling the country downh. Mr. Cain is, thankfully, NOT your career po0litician. We have had enough of those! And every o9ne o0f the other candidates and the wannabes ARE career politicians!

I just watched Chris Wallace interview Mr. Cain with some pretty tough questions. Mr. Cain answered them eloquently, clearly and calmly. He did a great job! And I am sending $100.00 to his campaign.

Well good, I'm glad to see people support their candidate financially. Limbaugh has endorsed no one, but he has also talked very highly of Perry as a true conservative.

I'm sure Cain is a good Christian man, as is Perry but that didn't stop people from bashing Perry. As for speaking eloquently, Cain has been a radio talk show host and should be practiced at speaking........however we all know that will happen as soon as he gets a nomnination.

The simple fact is, the rest of the country is going to stop and think about hiring another inexperienced man with no voting record and nothing to check his past on other than talk. Running the government and running Godfather's Pizza or Burger King are different. I really don't think the country will go for it after the initial flush of "Look, we're not bigots, see we're running our own black candidate" and they realize they have done the same thing that was done in 2008 only this time he's our guy.

I don’t think Limbaugh is particularly conservative. Sarah Palin likes Cain.
Eloquence requires brains (substance) as well as a tongue,McGavin.
Pery has been bashed because of his views, deeds and his actions. There are Christians, and then there are Christians.

Apparently you didn’t catch my drift. Obama is very experienced, a very experienced Communist, and he is doing a heck of a job bringing America to it’s knees, as W. did before him. No one before he is elected the first time can be an experienced president. Like everything else, it takes on the job training, and I think Herman Cain has an enormous leg up in that department as he takes the country back in the right direction.

Don’t you get it? The rest of the country is as fed up with career politicians who line their own pockets as I am! Cain said himself that he is a fixer, a trouble shooter, and do we ever need him! That he is also truly a Godly man is imperative.

It is not important that Cain is black. He is a great human being. He is comfortable in his skin, and he is far above using the racist card, as you have done. I happen to think he is Obama’s worst nightmare, and I am all for him.

Have you seen ithis?

Herman Cain brings extraordinary credentials to his candidacy for U.S. President.

He is the quintessential example of American Exceptionalism

He graduated from Morehouse College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and received a Master of Science degree in computer science from Purdue University in 1971, while he was also working full-time in ballistics for the U.S. Department of the Navy. Cain has authored four books: Leadership is Common Sense (1997), Speak as a Leader (1999), CEO of SELF (October 2001), and They Think You’re Stupid (May 2005). He also authored an article titled “The Intangibles of Implementation” in the technical journal Interfaces (Vol. 9, No. 5, 1979, pp. 144-147), published by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.

After completing his master’s degree from Purdue, Cain left the Department of the Navy and began working for The Coca-Cola Company as a business analyst. In 1977, he joined Pillsbury where he rose to the position of Vice President by the early 1980s. He left his executive post to work for Burger King – a Pillsbury subsidiary at the time – managing 400 stores in the Philadelphia area. Under Cain’s leadership, his region went from the least profitable for Burger King to the most profitable in three years. This prompted Pillsbury to appoint him President and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, another of their then-subsidiaries. Within 14 months, Cain had taken Godfather’s Pizza from 911 stores down to 420 stores and reduced costs significantly. As a result of his efforts Godfather’s Pizza finally became profitable. In a leveraged buyout in 1988, Cain, Executive Vice-President and COO Ronald B. Gartlan and a group of investors bought Godfather’s from Pillsbury. Cain continued as CEO until 1996, when he was asked to resign by the board. Later that year he became CEO of the National Restaurant Association – a trade group and lobby organization for the restaurant industry – where he had previously been chairman concurrently with his role at Godfather’s.

Cain became a member of the board of directors to the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in 1992 and served as its chairman from January 1995 to August 1996, when he resigned to become active in national politics. Cain was a 1996 recipient of the Horatio Alger Award.

Cain was on the board of directors of Aquila, Inc. from 1992 to 2008, and also served as a board member for Nabisco, Whirlpool, Reader’s Digest, and AGCO, Inc.

Wow! This is a man who is running for office based on his abilities, eduction, and proven record of accomplishment.

Look at his background in economics!

Oh, did I mention that this American patriot just happens to be black? An American of African descent as it were.

Because of his education AND practical experience, Mr. Cain has far more going for him than the color of his skin.

This is no intellectual elitist who speaks in ‘professorial’ baby talk which sounds terrific, but which completely lacks substance.

Herman Cain does not ‘talk down’ to people, nor does he woo voters with flowery promises of ‘Hope and Change,’ and other leftist campaign pap.

Herman Cain would never use the federal government to bankrupt American industry.

Herman Cain understands private enterprise. He HAS met payrolls and successfully managed multiple businesses.

Herman Cain would NEVER burden American taxpayers with a trillion-dollar stimulus plan.

Herman Cain would never promote job-killing regulations and higher taxes.

Herman Cain was a key player in defeating socialized medicine during the Clinton presidency.

Herman Cain would not make the closure of GITMO a major, or even minor, priority of his administration.

Herman Cain would never insist that terrorists caught on the battlefield be read their Miranda Rights and tried in civilian courts.

Herman Cain understands and respects the U.S. military.

Herman Cain is an American citizen and owns no baggage which challenges his eligibility to serve as President.
Herman Cain LOVES America!

Herman Cain MUST be on the Republican presidential ticket in 2012!

Herman Cain: Let’s CHANGE America back to the great nation we used to be!
