Exodus follows ruling upholding state's tough law cracking down on illegal immigration
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Hispanic students have started vanishing from Alabama public schools in the wake of a court ruling that upheld the state's tough new law cracking down on illegal immigration.
Education officials say scores of immigrant families have withdrawn their children from classes or kept them home this week, afraid that sending the kids to school would draw attention from authorities.
There are no precise statewide numbers. But several districts with large immigrant enrollments from small towns to large urban districts reported a sudden exodus of children of Hispanic parents, some of whom told officials they planned to leave the state to avoid trouble with the law, which requires schools to check students' immigration status.

Texas bound.
Texas or Florida?
Anybody know?
sweeeeeeeeeeeeet
Or CA bound.
These laws work. But getting a law this passed in somewhere like Texas is impossible because of the financial and political power of agribusiness, the construction industry, the drug cartels, La Raza and pandering compassionate conservative politicians.
Heartless bastards! Rick Perry must be apoplectic about this turn of events.
I guess “Illegal immigrants vanish from Alabama schools” is not going to get as many clicks as “Hispanics vanish from Alabama schools” - looks like the MSM is trying to make this about race and not people breaking the law....
Or MD bound.
Wherever they can continue to get away with it.
Some people we know in the local construction business overheard some of their workers talking about going to Texas shortly after the law initially passed.
Laws? Whats that!?!?
While it does not allow gov't to turn the kids away from school, I've heard that, secretly, Alabama officials will use this data to locate and manufacture reasons to deport the illegal parents.
I think it is a pretty smart move for these illegals to save themselves by moving out of Alabama.
Look at the bright side, Alabama won’t have to worry about passing a “DREAM” Act. The legislature can concentrate on the economy and jobs for Americans.
If I’m breaking the law, I’d hide too. But I’m not, so I don’t.
They vanish up here in NYS, too. Only 40% graduation rate in my hometown public school. Disgusting!!
gosh, that’s odd!
wonder what happened?
/s
Even worse, NY bound! Remember bloomturd inviting the illegals into NYC?
As if NY isn’t bad enough.
adios
