Texas Gov. Rick Perry is defending his policy of allowing tuition assistance for illegal immigrants at state colleges and universities, saying the lack of a cohesive federal immigration policy forced his hand.

“Forced his hand”? Forced him to give US taxpayer monies to illegal aliens???
The man is a LIAR as much as Obama!
There are many such laws destroying our nation. Obamacare is another.
Do you support it?
And every one of them is wrong for doing so. They are here ‘illegally’ and were from the nanosecond they crossed the border. Any state county of fed agency/person assisting them in any way does it at the expense of our national security and the expense of taxpaying citizens.
There is NO denying that reality.
I understand why some people were offended by the “heartless” remark. They took it to heart. No pun intended. The remark did not offend me in anyway. Let me explain why. If you look at this issue with the eyes of a child who was brought here at the age (for example) of 1 year old. You are now college age, have no memory of anything but America and freedom and then being faced with being uprooted and sent (to you) a foreign country because your parents made a wrong decision many years ago. If you do not feel a pang of sympathy for someone facing that very scarey situation then I would have to agree with Perry.
Now, if you’ve read this far and before you flame me with comments that I am for amnesty, let me say that I do not agree with the bill. The borders should be secured immediately so that the scenario I just gave above does not happen a single time more. And yes I understand the cold hard facts that it may come down to deportation for those remaining in the borders after securing it. I just believe that his remark was blown way out of proportion. I also remember when you could use the word compassion and not get flamed. As a conservative, I do feel compassion for those children of illegal immigrants.
Flame away and thank you for reading the whole post. :)
“Gov. Perry wants the border sealed and a Conservative Ascendancy.”
Just what the Hell is a “Conservative Ascendancy”??
The man is liar and a pro-Mexico advocate. His Trans-Texas Corridor, an expressway from Mexico through the heart of the US, is enough to never elect him!
Perry doesn’t want the border sealed as he as Texas Governor has that ability, yet, he does nothing! He simply wants to blame someone else (the federal government).
I do not support Obamacare.
As far as I'm concerned, the politicians in this country are epic failures, and have put the country on a path to collapse. "Incompetent" is too kind.
We are a nation of laws, not men. The law is an ass at times, but it’s the law. Should we side with Democrats? Yes or no?
Should policy/law be made with heart or head?
Should any other issue we ‘feel’ strongly about cancel out the law because we ‘feel’ a certain way? Which?
I understand your point. And it DOES suck for them. But it is what it is. We follow the law or we side with liberal democrats. Those are the choices. Actions have consequences.
When a father kills someone and goes to prison for life, do we let him off because his kids will suffer for his bad decision?
Signed: Heartless in Virginia.
This whole “no one is going to deport them” thing is really just a red herring. The illegals are here because there is incentive to be here. Take away the free medical, welfare, free or subsidized education, &/or a place to work, & they will SELF DEPORT as we’ve seen partially in Arizona after their changes.
There’s no need to “round them all up”. They’ll do it themselves for the better part if the incentives are taken away.
This is apparently been a tough concept for Perry & some here to grasp. It’s really not that complicated.
Troops are not cops. So, if we deploy them do we do so under the same rules we would use in invading Iraq perhaps?
Sending the military up to the border to shoot civilians may be something WE don't want to do even if a few politicians imagine they can convince us we ought to do.
A static defense system that reacts passively to large crowds is certainly something we need to avoid the use of machineguns and hellfire missiles.
It's a codeword for crony capitalism. No way is it a call for less government, just a change in which party gets to be at the helm for the next 5-10 or so years.
I feel compassion for them. But not at the expense of rewarding them for being here illegally, and not to the point of granting them amnesty.
That is NOT compassion, it is IMMORAL.
And here what Rick Perry said:
“If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than theyve been brought there by no fault of their own, I dont think you have a heart.”
He said this to demonize opponents of the bill.
He has also insinuated that we are racists.
These things have revealed the true character of Rick Perry. It is undeniable, and I think they have been fatal to his Presidential aspirations.
No, they do not! They are Mexicans looking for American money. They HATE America. They HATE "Gringos". They want nothing to do with America!
They fly the Mexican flag at their protests. Thousands of them in the street flying the Mexican, not the US, flag!
Your attitude (priorities) is part of the problem...keep blaming Perry and not Obama...that's really worked out for us! /s
Your kind have posted more comments about instate tuition than about "Fast and Furiouss."
I knew that one was coming :) Hmmmm...who does this remind us of?
Cincinatus’ Wife told me personally such matters are all BS and repeatedly debunked a few posts back so TTC never happened, doesn’t exist and Perry had nothing to do with it.
How dare you point out inconvenient truths to her! Perry is ‘ascendent’ after all and ‘conservative too’! (pay no attention to his record behind the curtain.) ;)
You post 155, dead on, thanks, good work.
