Pop quiz: Name one accessory that grandmothers, moms, girls, wealthy socialites, middle-class females and low-income women might be likely to own and cherish all across America.
If you answered a gun, youd be correct.
Based on polling research and gun-sale statistics, an estimated 15 million to 20 million women in the United States own their own firearms. Dozens of those heat-packing women are documented in Chicks with Guns, a new book by photographer Lindsay McCrum that is sure to challenge almost anyones assumptions about gun ownership.
Their numbers are really high but their profile is actually really low, said McCrum, who spent three and a half years capturing artistic and arresting portraits of women with their weapons of choice.
I was so surprised by the variety and breadth and diversity of these women with their weapons of choice.

Where’s the “like” button when I really need it??
Chicks with Guns. Soon to be cited as the next potential domestic terror group by Big Sis Nappy at DHS.
I Could Go On ....
It needs to become part of our culture that “real women carry guns”.
I remember how much I enjoyed the rather odd post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie “Night of the Comet” (1984), with two “big haired” 1980s styled Valley Girls, who were, oddly enough for the time, both proficient and comfortable with guns.
They mentioned that their father was a Green Beret, and were rather disappointed with their MAC-10 machine guns their stepmother and her new boyfriend had given them, because “Daddy would have gotten us Uzis.”
But it was a joy to see women in a Hollywood movie shown as liking, appreciative of, and capable of effectively using guns, something almost never shown. Even then I pondered how great it would be if that was the norm, instead of a rare exception.
So which “guns” do you think are real:)
Yep, the look in the eyes are telling.
“mess with me and I will take you out.”
Best she is good at her job.
yes we are winning. The book is #85 on amazon and it won’t be released until 11/01.
This would make a great Christmas gift for your young daughters.
Women on the front lines?
Don’t be silly women are delicate flowers with no idea as to how to inflict pain and misery
It’s not in their nature to hurt people
hee hee hee
I know some “farm women” who would convince you otherwise.
Unless they are scorned.
“LADIES. This is the Al-Quaeda insurgency. THEY STOOD YOU UP ON PROM NIGHT. Go to it.”
Finally a forum where I can express myself honestly. I should be able to carry one of my guns wherever I want, whenever I want. The liberals want to take my gun away so just criminals have guns. The liberals want that because many among them are criminals. Keep the second amendment strong!
Liberating, isn't it? Sometimes the noise here overwhelms the signal, but all in all, its a great place. Welcome to Free Republic!
Something interesting is going on here. It is obvious that this coffee table book is being heavily promoted.
Lindsay McCrum has been with the "in" crowd in New York and San Francisco for quite some time. Anyone have personal knowledge of her thoughts/politics/philosophy? She was 28 in 1986, so she would be 53 this year.
Plenty more pics here:
Whoa! What happened to Lilly? Banned already?
Banned in one day? Veddy interesting.
