Rick Perry's led the Republican field in every Southern state that we've polled since he entered the Presidential race...until now. Mitt Romney continues to lead the way in Florida with 30% to 24% for Perry, 10% for Gingrich, 8% for Ron Paul, 7% for Herman Cain, 6% for Michele Bachmann, 3% for Jon Huntsman, 2% for Rick Santorum, and 1% for Gary Johnson.
Perry had a poor debate performance in Florida Thursday night and our results suggest that the negative coverage he received from that did hurt him some in the state. We started this poll on Thursday night before the debate and in those interviews the race was neck and neck with Romney at 33% and Perry at 31%. But in interviews done Friday-Sunday Romney's lead expanded to double digits at 29-19. More telling might be what happened to Perry's favorability numbers after the debate- on Thursday night he was at 63/23 with Florida Republicans. Friday-Sunday he was at 48/36. Perry's poor performance may or may not prove to be a game changer nationally but it definitely appears to have hurt his image in the key state where it occurred.

“Ill never understand why Bachmann and Santorum didnt shoot their bullets at Obama and RINO Romney...”
Simple, actually. Many people are jealous of the raw sexual energy Perry has. Pure and simple, he’s got the mojo.
La Raza Rick is the Huckster in the race. Huckster insulted Christians who opposed his stance on flooding the country with illegal slave labor.
I don’t think Conservatives desire a Mitt Romney but after the performances of others, not counting Cain, we may end up stuck with him.
If we do get stuck with him and he doesn’t follow our wishes then in 4 years we need to run a third party candidate and go ahead and destroy the GOP.
[The best you can say about Perry is that he has the same speaking and presence problems that plagued George W. Bush throughout his career.]
I agree that this is a HUGE weakness on Perry’s part. Cain is a great communicator, imo.
here is what SHOULD be happening
Every time Romney attacks Perry on something like immergration or gardacil.. and then the moderators turn to Santorum and or Bachmann and ask them what they think..
They should be saying something like ... Well, while I may not agree with Governor Perry on this particular issue, I think it’s laughable that Mit Romney is attacking Governor Perry when his record on this issue is 10 times worse.
Give Rick a chance; he’ll have you doing the ‘no pants’ dance!
If you want to be "the conservative" in the race and carry than mantel effectively, then you must be that good, or you will be destroyed swiftly. Perry needs to get that good right now...if he has that ability it had better become quite obvious quickly.
They are ganging up on him, no one could stand up to that kind of attack from 7 others + 2 or 3 moderators. Picking apart the 2 or 3 questionably unconservative things someone did over their 20 years in public service.
if you dont make a living making people laugh, please consider comedy as a career...thanks
Well said!
Romney and Perry, they are both losers. You can take slick Rick and shove him.
Just say no to Mick Pomney. Guess I’m “deluded” for not wanting another POS.
There is only one of him, has he apologized about the debates tone in reference to barry obama
Not to say I’m a Palinista. She is not running.
Romney will never be the GOP Nom. If Sarah runs, it will be Sarah. If not, then Perry. Romney ain't the one. And if by some foolish fluke he becomes the Nom, then it's Obama sailing to victory in 2012.
He is also up in Iowa according the an American Research Group poll: http://americanresearchgroup.com/pres2012/primary/rep/ia/
You should have heard Romney go after Perry on immigration this afternoon on Hannity...thought I was listening to Tom Tancredo for a minute. What a frickin' fraud...
Cain is my second choice but doesn't have a snowball chance in hell in winning the nomination. The left and the GOP elite are using Cain...the person they are most scared of is Rick Perry. BTW, debates means little in the overall scheme of things...it's the record i.e. jobs and economy you look at Texas is cooking because of Perry, mostly.
It defies all logic.
