"I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that," Perdue said. "You want people who don't worry about the next election."

Go ahead and step down, Governor.
The Tar Heel State will take it from here.
Perue you are such a CHICKEN!!!!!
Do it with one condition: No one currently seated as a congress person would be eligible for subsequent election to congress. Ever.
No think you. I gotta get rid of Debbie Stabenow.

Won’t be the last time someone on the left proposes this.
During the Civil War they held every election as scheduled. During World War 1 and 2, they held elections. But the economy is so threatening that we have to suspend elections? What’s threatened, Democratic control of the Senate and the White House; and rightly so.
Ill tell you what though, there is precendence to do this.
The Enabling Act (German: Ermächtigungsgesetz) was passed by Germany’s Reichstag and signed by President Paul von Hindenburg on 23 March 1933. It was the second major step, after the Reichstag Fire Decree, through which Chancellor Adolf Hitler legally obtained plenary powers and established his dictatorship. It received its name from its legal status as an enabling act granting the Cabinet the authority to enact laws without the participation of the Reichstag. The act stated that it was to last for four years unless renewed by the Reichstag, which occurred twice.
The formal name of the Enabling Act was Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich (English: “Law to Remedy the Distress of People and Reich”).
See my post #38 in the thread I cited. No joke at all. Furthermore, the Observer might have changed their headline after the Gov’s PR weighed in. (No evidence yet; just my guess, but look at the timing.)
She was dead serious, and I don’t believe the thought originated with her.
somebody NEEDS an impeachment vote tomorrow!!
The quickest way to fix the economy, and create jobs is to give Republicans control of Congress and the White House. The bigger the margins, the better. Keeping Democrats in office is a sure way to finish the destruction of the US.
Do we have to pay the worthless miscreants?
Um, no. I’d rather have the chance to throw the big spenders out sooner, rather than later. They could do a LOT of damage in those extra two years.
How many American citizens understand the tragedy of this comment?
But to be sure the "Republican" DC establishment will never expose it, they themselves are not much different psychologically; Karl Rove or Olympia Snowe for instance.
That is why there is a Tea Party.
