During the Civil War they held every election as scheduled. During World War 1 and 2, they held elections. But the economy is so threatening that we have to suspend elections? What’s threatened, Democratic control of the Senate and the White House; and rightly so.

I’ll tell you what though, there is precendence to do this.
The Enabling Act (German: Ermächtigungsgesetz) was passed by Germany’s Reichstag and signed by President Paul von Hindenburg on 23 March 1933. It was the second major step, after the Reichstag Fire Decree, through which Chancellor Adolf Hitler legally obtained plenary powers and established his dictatorship. It received its name from its legal status as an enabling act granting the Cabinet the authority to enact laws without the participation of the Reichstag. The act stated that it was to last for four years unless renewed by the Reichstag, which occurred twice.
The formal name of the Enabling Act was Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich (English: “Law to Remedy the Distress of People and Reich”).

Sure, suspend the elections. But, why stop there? Get rid of that pesky, so-called "Bill or Rights". Suspend the presidential election while you're at it, we've got Obama the Great, can't do any better than that. In fact, just declare marshall law and suspend the whole constitution.

There's a double whammy in this woman's idea of canceling an election ~ as I pointed out in another thread this violates the NC Constitution, but it also violates the agreement struck between NC and the United States that resulted in readmission to the union.

Now Obama's not likely to get involved in this, but a subsequent President might, and NC might find itself negotiating ANOTHER DEAL, and this time it might not be so beneficial.

I was thinking one condition this time would be the requirement that the Democrat Party, it's symbols and publications, BE PROHIBITED ~ just like the Nazis are in Germany.

Here is something that will top Gov Perdue. EU always made it a point that any nation that joins must not have a military dictatorship or a politically active military. When the Greek people pressured the Greek Parliament not to accept the bailout deal from IMF/ECB. Anticipating possible failure, the EU actually sent out low level officials to Greek military and tell them that EU may overlook a military junta if it will restore order and make sure the bailout payments are made. Behind Gov Perdue and her like minded elites is the bankers of the US. The financial crisis was looming since Bush 41. Notice how corporate elites and Wall Street elites in high society cocktail parties advocated gun control. We thought it was just Clinton leftwing thinking, but IMHO it is a lot more then that. If the US citizens are unable to face up to the debt of excessive borrowing and spending, then the elites who invested heavily into the scheme are not going to take a severe loss or want to see this country (and them) be destroyed. After all where would our elites enjoy the life style of the 1990’s and have the personal liberties to boot. Not Singapore, not China, US is the only place to be wealthy and free. Well rich people do not roll over and let crap hit the fan. If Main Street Americans refuse to payup, then force will be used. Gun control, and draconian methods will be used because we face a very dire situation. Gov Perdue is amongst many that will entertain dictatorship. Why not? History has shown that nations that implode from debt will resolve it thru dictatorship. Look at Italy an Germany in the 1920/30’s.
