PHILADELPHIA (CBS) Thousands of people in Philadelphia are waiting in long lines for aid due to losses caused by Hurricane Irene; however, there is a lot of confusion over who exactly qualifies.
At several locations throughout the city, thousands lined up to get a months worth of food stamps for food that was ruined by Hurricane Irene in late August.
However, confusion of who is exactly qualified for the food stamps has lead to long lines and short tempers.
Officials say the application deadline is 7 p.m. Tuesday for the Federal Emergency Management Agency program, which is administered by the state.
Officials say it could take between 24-48 hours before an application for the food stamps is screened.
WTF?
There was an article posted yesterday that seemed like it was saying that anyone on food stamps in CT was getting a $375 bonus in case they had any food troubles related to Irene.
Gotta pic?
I bet there are a lotta people in line that could afford to miss a few meals...............
I watched the video.......I was right...........that woman in the pink tank top hasn’t missed a meal in DECADES..............
“The federally run program offers short-term assistance to those who live in an area that has been declared a disaster by the president. Their household must have sustained a loss of property, income or food due to a flood or power outage.” (Real or imagined?)

Good thing for Barky this happened in a heavily Dem-infested area! *SPIT*
Obama Plan: stand in line waiting for food stamps until the economy turns around. :)
How much can they get?
Golly, that’s right about how much they lost when the freezer lost power...
Arrrgggggggg! What the hell is going on with these people who are spending OUR MONEY! I am so sick of this shit -- it has to stop. How do they sleep at night?
Why did I bother to prepare for the hurricane? Why did I buy all those bags of ice the day before? Why did I fill all my tupperware with water and put them in the freezer to keep my food frozen when the power went out?
Why do I bother doing anything for myself? I can get everything free from these f'ing bureaucrats!
I did.
They ain’t hungry........
I did not see any.
Unexpected ya know...

Anyone within half a mile of her has, though...garanteeeeeed.
sounds like it was a giant giveaway
Food stamp people had extra money automatically added to their checks/cards. Nonfood stamp people got it by standing in line and applying
no wonder FEMA was “out of money”
LoL- stop stress'n, I heard it all came out of "Obama's Stash" so it's cool.
Maybe they should have BMI testing for qualification.
This is somewhat off topic, but in the immediate aftermath of Katrina, St. Louis County (Missouri, right next to St. Louis City) expected tens of thousands of flooded-out New Orleans residents to show up in the region en masse - destitute and starving. When no refugees actually materialized, we were stuck with a whole bunch of boxed up, non-perishable food that a charity had assembled. Each box allegedly contained a month’s worth of food for a family of four.
County government (for whom I work) decided to just give the boxes away to “needy” area families. You should have seen the vehicles that queued up for the free stuff - Cadillacs, SUVs, Jags, you name it. But the joke would eventually be on them. I inventoried the contents of one of the food boxes: it held enough food to feed one person for three or four days, tops. A bag of spaghetti, some crackers, canned vegetables, a couple of cans of soup and a jar of peanut butter. That was literally it. I can only imagine how many hundreds of thousands of dollars in skimmed profit the charity organizers pocketed from this fraud: receive $10 from government or whomever to buy a box worth of food, and actually only spend $2.
Freebies draw the morally weak, the despondent and the greedy. They are like free flour meal for mice, rats and roaches. You'll never get rid of the vermin until you put away the "spilled" freebies.
Everything should be kept in closed containers and given out only with care and love. human to fellow human. Freebies like this give-away are absent care and love. They are inhumane and breed inhumanity.
Wonder how many of these parasites would starve to death if their food stamps were to be placed under their work boots?
