The London Gold Exchange has shut down according to their web site. My guess is that as the Euro crises deepens people were liquidating their Paper Gold Holdings, and the Exchange didn't have the Gold to cover the paper they sold. I also would bet that they were the ones leading the sell-off the here at the COMEX.

Is that what they’re calling fraud these days? “Operational Difficulties”?

The London Gold Exchange bought and sold digital currencies. Not sure gold was involved.

Ya think?

The London exchange is far, far busier than the Comex.

I think it is (well, WAS) the largest gold exchange on the planet.

I think the name is a bit confusing. Gold is traded on the London Metals Exchange, which remains open for business. I’m not sure what these guys do, but I’ve heard it’s a pretty limited business.

They know the whole house of cards is fixing to collapse, and they are clearing themselves of what will be basically worthless paper soon - and I am including all currencies in that statement. When it collapses it will bring down every nation.

Gold can’t be printed ... Is there none left to sell in London?

I will certainly keep an eye on this story. It could be just a case of plain old fraud though and not economic collapse there are plenty of rumors that people were sell gold they didn’t have or didn’t exist and when the buyers tried to take psychical possession the schemes broke down.

About That “London Gold Exchange”...

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/26/2011 14:05 -0400

We are only putting this up because we have been flooded with emails about an event which for some reason readers believe is relevant. The event in question is that according to its website, the London Gold Exchange (”LGE” or the “Joke”) has closed.

The one thing we would like to say about this is that the LGE is nether an exchange, nor does it trade gold. And, judging by its Wikipedia page, is probably not based in London but in Hong Kong.

But yes, if one is concerned about such “currencies” as bitcoin and other digital “currencies”, this may be news...And now, carry on.

Last I heard he was banned, early this year.

Maybe he can come back, seeing other banned members, who were banned for more than five months, are back now.
