"we will also have a powerful presence close to American marine borders,"

Thanks for the morning laugh, raghead.

Cool, I am sure the Navy could use more targets for it’s live fire exercises.

Yeah right. I’d just love to understand how their supply chain is going to work to support that with food, fuel, and most importantly, ships parts when some equipment breaks down. They have no ability for underway replishment like the US Navy.

They certainly could. No doubt about it. Just like I could wake up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet. It could happen.

Step 1. Jam them.

Step 2. Start Target practice.

Step 3. Destroy all targets.

Step 4. Drink a celebratory beer.

They would go broke trying to keep the supply chain going with no nearby land bases for resupply and R&R. I bet they would get bored with the whole thing after a couple of months.

I also wonder how many Iranians would jump ship.

Good deal! We have two Naval Air Stations down here and I’m sure they’d love the targets.

Can we get an ETA on their arrival so we can set the lawnchairs out on the beach and be ready?

Well, as of 2001 they had 14 ships capable of crossing an ocean:
3 1500 ton Frigates (1971)
2 1100 ton Corvettes (1964)
3 3000 ton Kilo-class subs (1990s)
4 3000 ton Landing Ships (1970s)
2 2300 ton Landing Ships (1970s)
And that's it - don't see how they've added much in ten years, probably took all they had just to keep THOSE operational.
