Herman Cain win in the "Presidency 5" straw poll in Florida on Saturday has reset much of the narrative concerning the 2012 Republican presidential contest. Here are some questions being asked. First, was Cain's victory a reflection of the general dissatisfaction Republicans feel toward purported front-runners Mitt Romney and Rick Perry? Second, could another candidate enter the presidential contest? Third, will the Republican primary contest be a battle between the William F. Buckley rule versus the Rush Limbaugh rule?
If Republicans are indeed not enthused about Messrs. Perry and Romney, one candidate could be primed to enter the race who can square the Buckley rule of electing the most electable conservative with the Limbaugh rule of electing the most conservative person in the field.
That candidate is former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Buckley said that Republicans should elect the most electable conservative in the field. Often, Republicans act as if Buckley said Republicans should elect the most electable "Republican" in the field and conflate "conservative" with "Republican."

One reason Palin may have won over independent voters in the past month is that she brought up the issue of crony capitalism in multiple speeches and television appearances before Obama was hit with a bevy of crony capitalism scandals ranging from Solyndra to LightSquared. Further, Palin has also reached out to union workers and disaffected Democrats in Facebook notes and speeches with her free market populism that pits her against big government and crony capitalism. This is the strategy Reagan used to build his enduring coalition, which Palin seems to be trying to cobble back together for the 21st century, uniting blue collar voters -- white and minority -- who identify with Main Street over Wall Street and Washington, D.C.

I’m using a political term. She has high negatives means her poll numbers, not individual things that I could name.
I don’t know if she would or would not make a good president. I think she would be better than the one we have now, but that’s a pretty low bar.
She is a fantastic politician
What person asks a question by cutting right over the parts that answers what the writer was saying? YOU!
Sheesh!
We;ll see!
You don't have much in your arsenal if that's all you have. BTW, do you have something against the working man, too? I'm hoping your comment wasn't made as a put-down. I'm retired now but I'm damn proud of the job I did for UPS all those years. I was a valuable employee, 28 yrs safe driving award, seldom missed work and worked long hard hours under extreme conditions. Everything I've gotten in life, I've earned.
But your strident opposition to the candidacy of Sarah Palin makes me wonder what is going on in your head. And your heart. And what is really at the root of your hysterical opposition to the Governor.
She was a successful mayor as evidenced by the only standard that counts in the real world - she was elected to the Governorship running on that record.
And your continual bad mouthing those of us who love the woman and see in her a true antidote to the horrible state our nation is in - precisely because she understands what makes this nation tick in a way folks like you, with all the statistical knowledge you may possess regarding her record, lack.
It is not that your are stupid or ignorant - you are clearly not - it's that you fail to grasp that she is a leader who speaks to us as Reagan spoke to us - about the beauty, poetry and promise that is America. That we follow her must be addressed by you without insulting us. As fellow conservatives we deserve nothing less. Many on this forum who support her are very intelligent and experienced political players - you demean yourself, FRiend, by your shouting that only you have the facts and the rest of us are dupes. But this will make no impression on you I am afraid....guys like you think you are smarter than everybody else....your type is well known on this forum - especially in the anti-palin camp....so all that is left for me to say is this....and don't take it the wrong way....it is meant to be instructive before your head explodes
I for one couldn't care less what you think. Stay home or vote democrat on election day....but if you chose to vote GOP you will be voting for Sarah Palin, And you can take that to the bank.
We've noticed.
I predict that it won't be long until you join so many of your other classmates, who have recently taken the plunge into the electronic disintegrator.
Doofusses? Tahat is coming from one of the most retarded, borderline crazyBb poster on FR?
Been on FR for 10 years have you? You are proof positive that someone can spend 10 years at the university and still emerge as stupid as ever. Have you considered getting treatment for your mental derangement?
She is perfect!
She sure is!!
Good lord. Have you now become so desperate to tear Palin down, that you have to resort to making things up?
Palin put the town of Wasilla on the map, and made it one of the chief growth centers of the state of Alaska, when she was mayor. She balanced that city's budget, and got rid of the crony capitalist good ole boys who were profiting by holding back the natural expansion of that city.
She rose from a seat on Wasilla's city council to challenge the reigning oligarchy who had a stranglehold on that city, setting the tone for what would become her modus operandi in public service over the next twenty years.
Wasilla was a decrepit, growth-arrested backwater when Sarah Palin decided to run for city council and try to do something to help improve the quality of life for its citizens. By the time she finished her tenure as mayor, it was being hailed as an Alaskan miracle.
Dear wtc911, I dont want you to take what I say wrong...... Are you insane???
phew, I think we can all talk about it, now that it is in the open...
Well then why come on Palin threads if you don't want to "Dance"? .... Reminds me of school dances when the bullies showed up and hung around outside..... They couldn't dance very well either... just came there to make trouble.
Bookmarked.
Poor Herman Cain. He crushes everybody in a straw poll, and instead of giving him the credit for being a viable candidate, his vote is dismissed as a “none-of-the-above” vote.
Cain Crushes opposition then becomes “see, Sarah Palin has to get in....” Because Cain isn’t good enough of a conservative?
It is hilarious how for months all we hear is “polls are garbage”, and suddenly there’s this one poll and it’s golden!!!
Who pissed in your Corn Flakes? More importantly, why in the hell did you eat them????? For crying out loud, only “doofuses” do that!
TEN YEAS???? TEN LONG YEARS? WOW!!! I have never been so impressed. Now that you’ve pointed that out, I am sure as heck going to follow your every word, so will everyone else that supports Palin..
I do want to thank you for putting a title on your post, most folks don’t.
By golly you sure were right... your post was exactly what you said it would be... “Pure chicken-sh**.”
Palin 2012.....
The only remedy is avoidance of all things Palin and the only cure is a zot.
“........the rest of us see you as one of her dupes.”
Go to post #29 and take a good look at that guy shaking hands with Palin.
Please tell us, is that guy one of those “dupes” you’re talking about? OMG... they be very very scary looking guys!!
I want to be sure, so I’ll recognize one if they happen to sneak up on me in a dark alley. Thank you in advance.
Your belly aching is really getting old. You don't like Palin, you detest her. OK, I get it.
I detest you, and everything that comes out of your garbage spewing mouth.
I don't post much, read all I can, and usually just scroll over your diatribes.
But GD, your garbage is getting old.
The fault is all mine for stopping to read your, ahem, contribution.
Are you still around? Sheesh I thought you left with RINOs suck
