Obama Urges Black Community To 'March With Me' Athena Jones September 24, 2011
Washington (CNN) -- While acknowledging the hard-hit black community and budding criticisms in its ranks, President Barack Obama said in a speech Saturday night to the Congressional Black Caucus that he wouldn't give up -- and urged members of the black community to join him to jump-start the still-sluggish economy.
"I expect all of you to march with me, and press on," Obama said. "... Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We've got work to do." The unemployment rate among African-Americans is 16.7%, nearly double the national average, while 40% of black children live in poverty.
Such facts have made fiscal reforms a priority for caucus members, some of whom -- most of them Democrats -- have criticized Obama for not doing enough on the issue.
They include Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California, who at a caucus "jobs' tour town hall" in Detroit this month described the unemployment rate among blacks "unconscionable." She said the strategy to fix it was unclear, adding that the caucus was "getting tired" of waiting for one. She questioned the president's decision to focus on the Midwest during a three-day jobs bus tour in August, stating that the 3 million who live in Iowa -- and are mostly white -- are roughly equal in number to the African-Americans who are out of work.
She suggested that Obama's administration seemed more keen to focus on that politically important state than on the black community. "Are the unemployed in the African-American community, including almost 45% of its youth, as important as the people of Iowa?" she asked in the statement she released ahead of the president's speech before a joint session of Congress in which he announced his jobs...

How about Obama tries to be president of a whole country, not a little part of it...for once.
What do they call the “leader” that whitey puts up for all the black folk to follow?
“They bring a knife, you bring a gun”. One if the most chilling words said by him.
Though the Congressional Black Caucas, with the exception of West(R)FL, puts their best Marxists up front to do the yakking, even they have to be a lot more sophisticated than in the past. Is there some hope that even they miss capitalism already, and realize that the plantation they’re on is of their own creation?
Remember when it was expected his presidency was going to unite the races?
So we bring what... a nuke?
It’s o.k., we know who the knife fighters are...wait, that may me a racist statement.
He never believed that.
Very interesting stuff. Diabolical.
Obama could have had us (independents, Republicans) eating out of his hand, if he had only tried to represent the whole country.
Aww, he’s jest a rabble rouser, er make that community disorganizer.
America’s first affirmative action President proves once again that the reason he needs affirmative action is because he actually is inferior.
Of course not. Another lie from the Liar in Chief.
Yeah, and without his bad habit Jack The Ripper might be remembered instead as a saint.
Stop being lazy and waiting on things is a start.
We saw who is was early on. His mask has slipped off for most independents. The further he falls in the polls, the more desparate they will become. I think this is going to be ugly folks. As for me, I am going to work for the candidate who will judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Go CAIN!!
Ha! Actually, we knew he was a marxist from the get go. It was never meant to be anything other than a prop job by the msm to fool the ...I don’t even know what to call those people...who actually were suckered into his bs.
