ORLANDO Former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain won the Presidency 5 straw poll here Saturday, delivering a blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perrys frontrunner status and a victory for a candidate who has struggled to transform his grassroots popularity into strong showings in national polls.
Tonights winner is Herman Cain, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced. It shows you something, the road to the White House come through Florida, and it pays to spend time here.
He received 37 percent of the more than 2,600 votes cast.
Thank you to the Republican voters for this incredible honor of being named the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll in Florida today, Mr. Cain said. This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored. I will continue to share my message of common-sense solutions across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election.
The two national frontrunners Mr. Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney placed second and third. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, meanwhile, landed in fourth place; Rep. Ron Paul of Texas landed in fifth place; and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, sixth. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann finished last. (See the poll results here.)

Amen!
Fox news is reporting Cain “edged out” Perry. Edged out? 37% to 15%? All morning they have talked about how crucial this poll is, now they are pooh-poohing it because their candidate didn’t win.
Aside from Palin who is not even in the race, Cain is also the only Conservative teaparty candidate. How will the parasidic media and the rats deal with a Herman Cain against a zero!
I’m IN! Go HC! Money on the way! WOO-HOO!
“Three years ago it was a point of faith around here that the presidency isnt an entry level position. That still seems sensible to me but whatever.”
Obama was an entry level politician, but the big argument against him was that he had no real world experience. Most of the people who’ve been elected haven’t had any time in the real world. They’ve never had to live under the laws that they create.
Politicians, lawyers... they’ve made a mess of things.
Why don’t we try something different? When was the last time that we had a serious businessman in the White House?
nuttin’ ashhole! chicken and watermelon isnt owned by any color, you freakin dunce.
I think you underestimate your countrymen. The vast majority of us can see the difference clearly.
Don’t think that’s how people think/vote anymore.
It’s like 2.6k of voters out of almost 19 million.
Herman set himself apart in the debate largely by avoiding mud wrestling.
I like Herman. I like him a lot, but this is just a flash in time.
What a great post! You are so right!
Yes they have. On September 24, 2011, Cain won the Florida Republican Straw Poll with 37 percent of the vote; with Rick Perry coming in second with 15 percent.
oh happy day
Does anyone know what his stand on the border is?
All along I've been leaning either Cain or Bachmann now it may become a reality. Cain would be an awesome candidate. I know the MSM says Romney is the only one who could beat the Kenyan usurper in a debate, but I think Cain could tie him in knots. He's a compelling speaker and he does so w/o a teleprompter. He neutralizes the race card, Husein's most potent weapon. He's highly educated and he studied actual subjects like math, physics, engineering as opposed to taking 4 years of advanced Alinsky on an affirmative action scholarship at George Soros university.
Poor Herman Cain...now he is going to start getting really beat up.
*****it will be a cold day in hell before America elects another black guy to the white house.****
With Cain running against BO - how would that not happen?
Herman Cain is a principled conservative straight-shooter. That’s what we need in the WH. He’s the man!!!!!
Why is triumph of common sense and refusal of politics as usual a shock? Florida republican voters deserve a pat on the back.
