ORLANDO Former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain won the Presidency 5 straw poll here Saturday, delivering a blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perrys frontrunner status and a victory for a candidate who has struggled to transform his grassroots popularity into strong showings in national polls.
Tonights winner is Herman Cain, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced. It shows you something, the road to the White House come through Florida, and it pays to spend time here.
He received 37 percent of the more than 2,600 votes cast.
Thank you to the Republican voters for this incredible honor of being named the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll in Florida today, Mr. Cain said. This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored. I will continue to share my message of common-sense solutions across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election.
The two national frontrunners Mr. Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney placed second and third. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, meanwhile, landed in fourth place; Rep. Ron Paul of Texas landed in fifth place; and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, sixth. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann finished last. (See the poll results here.)

They are probably in their newsrooms right now going: How come all those racist Tea Party Republicans are voting for a black man.No doubt they will simply accuse us of voting for the black man to hide the fact that we're all a bunch of racists.
I looked at the CPAC agenda and saw that Cain was going to be working the crowd. I knew he just might have a chance. People just like him.
Now, the media has to pay attention.
I’m going to send in another campaign donation.
And from Central Texas! ;-)
Worth repeating!
I’m just starting to tune in Mr. Cain and I like what I hear/see so far. He talks more sense than any of them, he is consistent and doesn’t get wrapped up in the Romney/Perry sniping match.
I think the poll results are right on target.
At last, somebody true conservatives can rally around!
I can honestly and happily say I am not shocked one bit. I liked this man the first time I heard him speak. He is serious business with a flare for humor. I hope he WINS.
I would love to see Mr. Cain have a good run and capture the nomination. Not sure about Romney; Perry doesn’t have a brain.
Thank you all!
The GOP checkpants Republican Reptiles are reaching for the Kaopectate as we speak! LOL !
No more RINO me-to-isms, silly RNC rabbits, probably still haven't gotten the message though, same with the Lame Streams!
That is ok, we will drag them ( metaphorically ) into the new reality that we don't want the same ole' same ole'...
Three years ago it was a point of faith around here that the presidency isnt an entry level position.Herman Cain has a much better resume than Obama did.
Cain doesn't have any previous political experience, but then neither did Eisenhower, and he didn't do too badly.
As a volunteer for his campaign, and someone who follows his news, polls and networks with other supporters, this is not a surprise at all.
Cain has been steadily picking up steam since Feb. The media has chosen to ignore him.
Why shocking?
He has conducted himself as above the fray and has had no criticism.
I don’t know that Herman can win, but I am very proud of the way he presents himself in juxtaposition to Obama, and a lot of our candidates for that matter.
I’m sure they didn’t vote for Herman because of the color of his skin because as we all know and are told by the MSM and the dems, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Water, et al. we are all racists.
So they must have voted for him because of the content of his character, of which Herman has a great deal and obama has virtually none!
Floriduh has changed in the last 46 years.
For instance, check out this little story about a gun shop in Fern Park in the August 27, 1965 issue of Life Magazine.
The other day, I remembered reading it as a school kid. So I googled, and there it was!
Herman Cain is just not another black guy and Reagan was not just another white guy.
Hermain Cain is a solid human being that loves his country and will stand by and do right for her. I would hate to think that we would not vote for Mr. Cain based on what you posted.
A lot of us knew what obama’s agenda was before he was nominated but... I would proudly pull the lever or punch the ticket for Mr. Cain.
