It's Time to Buy Rick Perry Stock
MSNBC Power Wall ^ | September 24, 2011 | Michael Tomasky

Posted on 09/24/2011 10:20:19 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

The conventional wisdom is dumping hard on Rick Perry. Politico blared Friday, in the wake of his fumbling debate performance, that he might already be “Texas toast.” This tells me now is exactly the time to buy Perry stock.......

....The conventional counterargument, of course, is that the establishment will circle the wagons around Romney. ..... But I can mount a highly plausible counter-counterargument for why it may not.....All we've seen these past two years is establishment Republicans accepting one extreme demand after another.

My case then extends to the question of who will make up the GOP primary electorate.... Henry Olsen of the American Enterprise Institute......divides GOP primary voters into two camps—“dispositional conservatives” and “ideological conservatives.”....Olsen writes that the GOP has always chosen the “next in line” candidate because most primary voters have been dispositionals, and he thinks that will hold this time. I'm not as sure. The number of ideologicals has surely grown. If Olsen's right, then Romney, a next-in-liner if ever there was one, is probably the guy. But if he's wrong, then there's every reason to think this logic won't necessarily hold.

Lastly, my case hinges—and here's the second reason I'm buying Perry stock today—on the plainly observable fact....

....Who can possibly really like Romney? He's like your boss, or the regional supervisor who comes by the office a few times a year. You tolerate him and suck up to him, but the experience is completely phony and awkward. ...........Perry? Well, I find him repugnant, of course, but I'm an East Coast liberal. I'm trying to look at this through others' eyes. And I think he's the kind of person Southerners in particular but conservatives everywhere, except maybe in the Northeast, can take a shine to. At least he seems to have some shards of personality.

MSNBC gets it wrong again. Perry is a stuffed shirt. He shows disrespect of his fellow Republicans when he shows up for a debate loaded....or lets it look that way.

If he wants to be president he better start talking like a CEO of the executive branch and not like a bleeding heart liberal who gives sanctuary to illegals.

LOL. The idea that the establishment fears Slick Rick Perry is a hoax. This rebadged Al Gore Demonrat, this man whose "heart" leads him to support subsidies for illegals' anchor babies, who opposes the most effective measures against illegal immigration (eVerify), who tried to push through immunization against an STD without even confronting the conservative legislature... this hack career politician who has not done anything but run for govt. office for 27 years....we're supposed to believe this sellout is the future of conservatism?

You Perrybot shills have done your job well. By pushing this empty suit, you have sabotaged the only real conservatives in the race. Go home, and take your fool back to Texas. Maybe he can "create some more jobs" there.

Only if Sarah doesn’t come in late, and if the media continues to ignore Herman Cain could I vote for Perry. He!!, I could hold my nose and vote for anybody over Romney, but I certainly hope that it is a true conservative.

While I have switched from supporting Bachmann to supporting Cain, I agree that it is too early to rule Perry out. He will have to pick up his game in the up coming debates and it will be interesting to see where he stands in the next set of polls. (It will also be interesting to see if Cain can move up in the polls)

Pick through this.

Ack. I’d rather pick through...something else... reading the MSNBC take on conservatism? How would they know anything about us? It’s like me doing observations on Islamic fundamentalists. It ain’t gonna be flattering or helpful in understanding anything. It will end with the part where I wish they would all disappear...but we all knew that going in.

Heartless is Perry’s “Eeeeyargh” Howard Dean moment. It would take a sermon-on-the-mount-caliber performance by RP to even bring him back to pre 9/22 polling levels.

However, I’m of the mind that all this is so much wheel spinning. The media has once again picked our RepNom, but nobody on FR wants to acknowledge it. I will not utter his name, so don’t even ask. Grrrrrr

It really is a funny piece (trying to watch a liberal understand conservatives). He pegs Romney (in more detail at the link).

When east coast liberals start buying someone’s stock it’s time for conservatives to dump it.

You got that wrong ~ Perry doesn't particularly care about the anchor babies. He's pushing instate tuition rates for ILLEGAL ALIENS THEMSELVES.

Their parents are also illegals and they too live here illegally. They are the chilluns of illegals who were brought over the border after they were born. For the most part these people are Mexican nationals subject to the jurisdiction of the Mexican government and laws. If one of them commits a crime he or she will demand the Mexican government to come and protect them ~ which the Mexican government has shown willingness to do ~ particularly if the kid kills some American, and most particularly if the American is a minor female.

The Mexican government seems as traditional as the Arab governments they inherited their worst traditions from.

The ultimate idiocy here by the pundits and political junkies is that they are making debate performance as the break or make for a candidate and way overrating the whole debate thing. In their little mind since Romney is a great debater and Perry is a bad debater then Romney is going to win. Nothing can be farther from the truth and reality.

It seems that these fools are totally ignorant how elections are won as if they have never seen an election campaign before. Elections are won by hard campaigning, get out the vote, TV and radio ads, face to face meeting with voters, campaign rallies, interviews, etc...

Also these fools think that Romney is not going to be exposed by Perry as a liberal Republican since he did not do so effectively in the debates. All what Perry has to do is to expose Romney liberal record on abortion, gun rights, man-made global warming, gay marriage, etc... via TV and Radio ads (using Romney own image and voice sating his liberal positions on this issue), he can do it in campaign speeches, in media interviews, and in several other means of communications. Using these multiple venues to expose Romney liberalism would be vastly more effective and successful than any debate.

When Sarah Palin gets in, she is going to STEAL it from him, I just know it!

She has no right to enter this race.

STAY OUT, SARAH PALIN. LEAVE RICK PERRY ALONE.

MSNBC? The article covers all the politics from a standard conventional perspective. The Thursday debate might change the pecking order and Romney may jump to the top. We'll see.

For all his less then perfect ideal policies on immigration, I'd say Rick Perry remains a big force to be reckoned within the GOP primary process. In fact, its still either Perry or Romney who will come out the winner in the end.

And after 4 years of running for potus, Romney remains an unprincipled, liberal, statist, sob. I will never, ever vote for Romney!
