The EPA should not have the power to fine anyone.

So the Sacketts went to court, only to be told the courts can't address a decision like this, as it's an administrative decision. The couple would have to meet the demands of the "compliance order" and pay the $250,000 to apply for a building permit, then challenge the eventual decision."

There it is. No one to go after. The EPA puts us into serfdom.

Welcome to Moscow!

I was late paying the sewerage bill to the tune of two weeks. The bill was $73.15. I got a letter in the mail right after I had sent the payment out that was very threatening. It said that a lien was going to be put on my house, and that our property was going to be put on a list of properties that would be sold by the tax assessors office come December 21st. I sent a rather harsh letter to the Sewerage authority and sent a complaint to the Mayor(running for re-election by the way). We got a phone call from the supervisor as soon as they opened to assure us that they weren’t going to sell our property for a $73.15 bill. My husband reiterated that it said in the letter that it was going to be sold. That is when he transferred my husband to an idiot that said that we were consistently late for years ( I would pay a week to two weeks late), so basically, if you irritate some moron in the sewerage authority enough by paying too late for their liking, they will terrorize you by threatening to sell your house to satisfy a $73.15 bill. This is how people lose their properties in this country! Over stupid things like this, backed up by ridiculous laws! God help all of us!

Tear it down and start from scratch!"

I hope he would also limit it to 500 employees and/or on-site consultants.

... a "compliance order" that the couple remove the fill they had brought in, restore the land to its native condition, plant trees every 10 feet, fence it off and let it sit for three years.

The EPA must be reigned in.

Just get rid of the EPA. Send all the employees out to their parking lots to wait for recall. If not recalled in 3 days, go find work elsewhere.

If we cannot abolish the EPA- and we really DO need to- then the states should start flexing the 10th amendment and demanding that the EPA back off and that NO regulations put in place by them will be honored until the state legislators VOTE on it.

We should also be tearing after our fed representatives to take on the funding of the EPA, and its regulations.

ALL of the domestic agencies are nothing more than the executive branch’s attempt to subvert Congress. END THEM NOW!

Wow. Eliminating just the employees would save $900 million. Do it!

The EPA is evil.
We have a friend who bought twenty acres in Temecula Valley, CA. Wanted to start a vineyard.
The EPA stepped in for some reason and said fine go ahead but you can only use these five acres.
He can’t access the five because the EPA chose the five that are away from any road, and he can’t cut a road across the remaining fifteen.
Just writing that sounds stupid, I read the ruling and it literally makes no sense and there is no reason given prohibiting the use.
So his twenty acres are essentially useless.
I loath the EPA.

Not subvert congress, but the constitution.

Only in regulatory agencies are they the judge, jury and executioner.

This is not permitted anywhere else. Oh yes, the IRS is one of those as well.

This isn’t a partisan issue. If you look at the facts, the EPA came down on the Sacketts during the time of the Bush administration. Now it’s the Obama administration and the Sacketts are still in EPA’s crosshairs. Doesn’t seem to matter what party is in the White House, we’re still at the mercy of the bureaucrats. Here, it’s a middle class couple threatened with ruin by big government. Hopefully the US Supreme Court will show some concern for them — and us.
