Remember how Obama recently waived new ozone regulations at the EPA because they were too costly? Well, it seems that the Obama administration is would rather make people with Asthma cough up money than let them make a surely inconsequential contribution to depleting the ozone layer:
Asthma patients who rely on over-the-counter inhalers will need to switch to prescription-only alternatives as part of the federal government's latest attempt to protect the Earth's atmosphere.
The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday patients who use the epinephrine inhalers to treat mild asthma will need to switch by Dec. 31 to other types that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons, an aerosol substance once found in a variety of spray products.
The action is part of an agreement signed by the U.S. and other nations to stop using substances that deplete the ozone layer, a region in the atmosphere that helps block harmful ultraviolet rays from the Sun.
But the switch to a greener inhaler will cost consumers more. Epinephrine inhalers are available via online retailers for around $20, whereas the alternatives, which contain the drug albuterol, range from $30 to $60.
The Atlantic's Megan McArdle, an asthma sufferer, noted a while back that when consumers are forced to deal with environmentally friendly products they're are almost always worse:

This is so ridiculous. When I think of all the medical waste and horrific disgusting mess, waste, crap, (literally) I see everyday on the job at the hospital ...
And they’re worried about inhalers — stuff that gets inhated INTO someone’s lungs??

(What about hypodermics? All the diapers and paper products? Plastics? What about all the laundering of the bedsheets people want us to do? You can tell people every single day that we don’t change sheets daily unless they’re soiled ....oh, but for SO many, that’s NOT good enough — and you are “offending” them if you don’t change the sheets!!)
Okay this could kill me plain and simple. Do I go back to the strong Adrenal pills now? And why is it my insurance its finding it so hard to clear my meds these days? Twice in four months I’m stuck with nothing but no answers while my body needs medications.
Sounds as though whoever makes the OTC inhalers will be laying people off.
Sorry, but those over the counter inhalers are dangerous to many who use them. They could never get FDA approval now, because of the heart rate increases, and the “rebound” effect, among other things. I’ve treated people in the ER who nearly died using those, and who were quickly improved by the prescription inhalers.
I don’t agree. Obama HAS to go. It’s going to be very hard for anyone
that wins (other then a dimwad) of course. They left have all the media, judges, etc., covering their azzes. There’s a LOT that needs to be done and quick. Just as quick as 0 did his changes. Do we have anyone that put up with all the craps that’s coming?
The art of medicine has been reduced to following government rules.
These rules are taking us back to an era where it will be survival of the fittest.
Medical care is much cheaper that way.
For instance....an elderly male enters the ER with a bladder infection, yet he is not given antibiotics until the offending “bug” is grown in a culture which could take days because the government will not pay for treatment unless it can first actually can be proven that he needs a certain anti-biotic for a “bug” that has been IDENTIFIED.
In the meantime, the elderly man either lives....or dies from septicemia, which means the “bug” has now entered his blood and infects his heart, kidneys,etc.
Many doctors are quitting.
