Sarah Palin: I am still considering running for president

The State Column | Staff | Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said Wednesday that she remains interested in seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination even as a recent poll shows a vast majority of Republican voters oppose her candidacy.

“I think people are still going to be coming and going because there is still time, and I’m still one of those still considering,” Ms. Palin said during an appearance on Fox News. “There is still time…And I think on both sides of the aisle, you’re going to see people coming and going in this race.”

Ms. Palin, who has repeatedly hinted at a potential run for president, said earlier this year that she is likely to announce her decision at the end of the month. A number of political analysts have questioned whether the former Alaska governor will enter the race.

Ms. Palin’s comment comes as a McClatchy poll reported that 72 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Republican or Republican-leaning independents do not want the former vice presidential nominee to run for president in 2012. Just 24 percent said they support the idea of a Palin presidential bid.

Speaking Wednesday, Ms. Palin said she remains confident that the current field of Republican presidential candidates can defeat President Obama in the November general election.

“We need to change the entire game plan. And we need to change the entire team that’s been there at White House doing such great damage to our economy,” the former Alaska governor said. “We need to make sure that we have the best and most qualified. The most vetted candidate to come forth and rise to the surface after this primary process.”

She also said that she would make up her mind by the end of September because she didn’t want to be seen as stringing people along. Now she hints at stringing it out even more. So, its more than changing ones mind.

Read my lips ‘No new taxes’. Remember when Bush failed to keep that promise?

How about it?

Let the pretty poodle stay on the porch.

She can’t get down with the Big Dogs.

Pretty d@m sexist thing to say. Not to mention flat out wrong. I don't suppose you listen to her much. I've heard all the candidates, and IMHO no one, except perhaps Newt, is as sharp on her feet or more on message than she is. I heard Perry tonight on Hannity. A real snoozer. Stop. Start. Listen to the voice in his ear. EOTUS (Earpiece of the United States). Can't imagine folks being so hard up for good leadership they would consider someone like him a "big dog." Though I will say his hair is nice enough for any poodle. Maybe you just haven't been around those Alaskan huskies enough. Now that there's a big dog.

Springfield, you know what? I watched Perry on Hannity twice earlier. The first time, I kept thinking he reminded me of someone, but I couldn’t think who. The second time, it hit me. The practiced expressions. the just right smile. Mr. Smooth. john “breck girl” edwards. All that was missing was the mirror.

You mean this is the same thing? That the electorate will be outrged about her changing her mind about when or if to get in the race. Good point.

I don’t like Palin stringing the conservative base along as she sells book and gets speaking fees.

Are you a socialist? Do you think she should have short-circuited her earning potential just so the "conservative collective" could pick up the entire tab for her presidential run? Or is it better if she can be frugal and pay her own way to some extent with good old private capital acquired for the free market value of her labor? Especially when that financial independence is a key part of her campaign theme, you know, no crony capitalism, no obligations to big money, a candidate genuinely free to do the right thing. You really have a problem with that? Inquiring minds want to know...

It is not tiresome to me.
EDINVA wrote: "I don’t know your age, but "

That is true and one point we can agree on. Here's another one. I don't know your age.

Yet there exists no need for me to know your age to understand that if you had been old enough to vote in 1976 or even 1980, from your " tiresome " remarks, it's apparent that you would have been the same type of voter who was against a Ronald Reagan candidacy in both 1976 and 1980.

History does repeat itself. Meanwhile Palin keeps proving herself as an apt student of history as well as a most worthy contender.

He had an ear piece whisperer telling him how to respond.

It's called an IFB, genius, and I'm sure the producer/director was telling him he was live, or some other stage direction...sheeesh...

I was around and voted for Reagan for president twice. Even attended one of his Inaugural Balls in ‘80. How ya like that? Eat your dumba$$ heart out.

Your failure to understand the history of that 1980 race vs. 2012 is sad.

The primary season today is far different than 1980. Today nominations may be decided by mid to late February.

Yeah so amazing how so many free market capitalists attack someone who is a successful free market capitalist...making money the old fashioned way...earning it...

I watched the program and I certainly didn’t see it that way. That is just supposition on your part stated as if fact.

What is truly sad is that from 1980 until today, you failed to pick up any class along the way.

Your having to resort to name-calling in order to bolster your fantasy of gaining respect is pathetic.

Finally your crude demeanor is confounded by your faulty assumptions which is the true mark of a liberal.
