Sarah Palin: I am still considering running for president

The State Column | Staff | Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said Wednesday that she remains interested in seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination even as a recent poll shows a vast majority of Republican voters oppose her candidacy.

“I think people are still going to be coming and going because there is still time, and I’m still one of those still considering,” Ms. Palin said during an appearance on Fox News. “There is still time…And I think on both sides of the aisle, you’re going to see people coming and going in this race.”

Ms. Palin, who has repeatedly hinted at a potential run for president, said earlier this year that she is likely to announce her decision at the end of the month. A number of political analysts have questioned whether the former Alaska governor will enter the race.

Ms. Palin’s comment comes as a McClatchy poll reported that 72 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Republican or Republican-leaning independents do not want the former vice presidential nominee to run for president in 2012. Just 24 percent said they support the idea of a Palin presidential bid.

Speaking Wednesday, Ms. Palin said she remains confident that the current field of Republican presidential candidates can defeat President Obama in the November general election.

“We need to change the entire game plan. And we need to change the entire team that’s been there at White House doing such great damage to our economy,” the former Alaska governor said. “We need to make sure that we have the best and most qualified. The most vetted candidate to come forth and rise to the surface after this primary process.”

Reagan didn’t announce until November.

Sarah, I’d love to see you in the race, but Herman Cain is my favorite because he shoots straight, committed early, and hasn’t quit.

Newt and Santorum were fired by FoxNews when they hinted at running for the presidency, and before they announced.

Then, I hope she is fired. She can win it!

Will FoxNews fire Palin tomorrow, or is she just in it for the money?

Is she in it just for the money? When you work for Fox News, you get paid. Do you have a problem with that? When you work, if you work, do you get paid? What's your point? Are you kiddin us? People don't have a right to earn money? You can't be serious.

That’s not a very accurate representation of what happened. Fox said if someone was going to run for president they’d have to leave the network as a correspondent. And those who were intending to run did leave.

Huckabee and Palin were undecided. Huckabee eventually said no, and Sarah still says she’s undecided. When that maybe becomes a yes (if it does become a yes), then and only then will she be ‘fired’ by Fox.

Nothing says “follow me into battle” like quitting a governorship after 2 years in office

Gee Ace, why don't you start a thread on that and get it put in breaking news.

You're really on the top of your game tonight!

She said she’d make up her mind by September, so she only has a few days left.”

I missed that. Where was it? Do you have a link to that?

Thanks.

“What did she ever do to you anyway? She pop you in the lip or something?”

He doesn’t like Palin, or any of them, simply because they are not Perry. Perry supporters are a lot like Ron Paul supporters.

You need to at least support somebody. Just because you hate a Woman Governor from AK isn’t cutting anything. Obama is a damn bad joke and you know it.

She's waiting for us to all get in a circle holding hands and beg her to run. I'm tired of her little game.

She seems to be still deciding...

Her chosen public response to being asked, given that her chosen time to announce is as late as possible, is to say "I'm still deciding". But, in fact, she knows and has known for quite awhile. And her chosen time to announce is as late as possible to maximize her chance, based on her view and i'd imagine the view of her confidants, of gaining the nomination. I'm inclined to agree... she gains nothing in participating in answering inane questions in inane debates, and has plenty of name recognition unlike Perry. Probably figures once gettin' in, the necessary money will flow as well.

Nothing says “follow me into battle” like quitting a governorship after 2 years in office, and then having reality TV shows to the point that a hair salon owned by Palin gets its own show.

Yes, that, and accomplishing more in half a term than most governors would in 2 terms; then leading a wildly successful national charge to help take GOP control of the US House in 2010; showing tireless passion, leadership, and heart in the face of relentless smear; and helping forge and empower a new phenomenon in American politics, the TEA Party.

I, for one, will follow Sarah into battle...

I don’t think so. She is going for the attack game the media plays.
