CNS News ^ | 9/20/11 | Penny Starr

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told members of the National Restaurant Association on Monday that Americans need to “adjust” their tastes so that they like the kind of food the government believes they should eat—and “we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.”

"This is kind of weird. I decide what to feed the livestock and pets because I own them ... so ... does the government think it owns the people?"

That would be the North Korean model. I wonder if grass and snakes will be on the regime's approved food list?

If they can mandate how many miles per gallon your car must get, or how many bullets you can put in a magazine - why would it be so odd that they can mandate how much salt (or beef or candy) you can have?

Hey, we got our first Food Fascist. Congratulations, Obama. Now you’ve added fascists to your collection of marxist minions. Way to go.

“You will like our food, or else”

“We know where you eat”.

“TOFU or the gulag””.

Time to “sack” this “sack of shit” Vilsack.

“You know, as we deal with this issue of reducing sodium and sugar, it sounds simple to do, but you all know better than I do, it’s not as simple as it sounds,” said Vilsack.

“It’s going to take time for people’s taste to adjust and they will adjust over time, but it will take some time,” he said. “So, we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.

"At the end of the day, though, we've got to deal with this," said Vilsack.

Pretty much every kind of food the government has been pushing for generations has been bad for you.

Before the politically correct diet dictators got involved, the majority of people were thin and trim. Go back and look at old pictures or news clips. You probably won't find a fat person in an entire crowd. Now, it's hard to find a thin person anywhere.
I think the "government" diet is part of a population control sceme. People are rotting inside.

Black. Bean. Brownies.

Now I know, despite Bushwon’s assurances to the contrary, that this is full-on satire. Nobody talks about black bean brownies with a straight face.

Even crazy people have their limits.

(I hope.)

I think the next transition needed is to transition the Dept. of Agriculture, Education, Housing & Urban Dev., Energy, Transportation, and other agencies such as EPA, ATF, etc. to a defunct status for the American public’s health and safety.

Americans need to “adjust” their tastes so that they like the kind of food the government believes they should eat—and “we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.” >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

They can say that about soldiers, whose diet IS controlled in the field, but about the public?

No greater indication do we have of the total control the government of Obama intends for the people, down to what they eat?

Americans have always eaten damn well what they wanted, and that sure as hell will never change.

I suppose if one doesn't eat what the government says, one will be denied health car ( Obama Care?).Buahahahahahahahah! The obese will lose their coverage? The linkage is obvious.First Obama forces everybody onto the government plan, and then he will restrict coverage according to the latest politically correct dietary mean. I'd say that cannibalism is just around the corner. The first leftist that puts his/her hand in our fridge will have it eaten?

Red bean paste is actually pretty good. And I would try black beans in brownies but no one will force me to eat them.

One of my biggest complaints is that many prepared or processed foods have way too much sodium in them. I'm getting so that I rarely eat out; all I can taste is salt. And, I'm tired of looking at a package of #$@%$$%@ near anything pre-made in the grocery store, and seeing that it contains 1/3 to 1/2 a day's sodium intake in one (undersized) serving.

I'd love to have options other than "salt" for spices in pre-prepped food.

That being said, the gov't has absolutely NO - none, Zero - business in dictating how companies process their foods. If I disagree with a company's method of food preparation, I simply choose not to patronize them, and both Mrs WBill and I do our own cooking. Which, frankly, we've found to be better in most cases anyway. :-)
