You can't reinvent the burger; you can remake it NEW YORK (AP) — When Wendy's decided to remake its 42-year-old hamburger, the chain agonized over every detail. A pickle chemist was consulted. Customers were quizzed on their lettuce knowledge. And executives went on a cross-country burger-eating tour. [snip]

I loved Carls Jr when I lived in Ca

The western star was a nice tasty inexpensive burger.
Now they charge sit down prices.
Their burgers are still good but Way over priced.

I will never understand why Hardees fell to the wayside.
Only they and Burger king used real fire.

There is still a Foster’s Freeze near me. When we were kids in the hot summer night, our parents would take us out to DQ or FF for a dipped cone. They would split a banana split and we all got a sample of the toppings. I remember eating that dipped cone, the trick was to bite into the chocolate so it didn’t crumble all over you!

I have alot of similar memories.

Hot summer night with a santa ana.
We’d go to the movies to get in the AC.
Sometimes we would watch the film twice, then over to Fosters Freeze for a dip cone or a sundae.

Is Smashburger the burger place, where right before the burger is ready to come off the grill, ice is thrown on it, which turns into steam, and the burger gets pushed down, and the steam hitting it makes for a really tender juicy burger?

I’ve only eaten at five guys once, but the texture/tenderness of their patties made me think that they also hit them with steam somewhere in the final cooking.

They cover them on the grill with a lid just as they finish cooking.

I am moving to Texas (from Los Angeles) and when I was scoping locations I found an In-N-Out just a short distance away from my new home. Can you spell relief? I have been all over the country (for my job) and have never found anything even close.

No Tommy’s (the Chili Burger version of In-N-Out) but you can’t expect everything on a relocation this far.

I used to get a decent burger and fries at the bar at applebees with a brutus of shiner bock.
Id top that off with a cigar watching the sports game and socializing.

They banned smoking and I have only been in a few times in in like 15 years.

They just ruint it for me by being PC

Back when Wendy’s had a salad bar...the local place had a sign over the stack of plates at the bar reading
“Clean Plates Upon Request”.

I now only get the Frosty....

That's why Wendy's SuperBar went away. At high volume stores they had to dedicate an employee to babysit it all the time during lunch and dinner rush.
