You can't reinvent the burger; you can remake it NEW YORK (AP) When Wendy's decided to remake its 42-year-old hamburger, the chain agonized over every detail. A pickle chemist was consulted. Customers were quizzed on their lettuce knowledge. And executives went on a cross-country burger-eating tour. [snip]
Hardee’s got curb stomped when they added fried chicken to their menu. When you go up against The Colonel, you’d better bring your A game.
Awwww. He can eat it if he wants; just don’t expect direct contact.
And don’t think he doesn’t have things he won’t do at certain times, either. It’s a 2-way street, honey.
I know how that feels. Sorta. My beloved cousins and aunt/uncle 200mi from us in the hinterlands used to have a Dairy Queen near them (we NEVER have had a close DQ). DQ left but someone took over the place locally and called it Dairy Dip, so the deliciosity continued. For a while. They had car nights, too (I’m a car nut). Then they closed; it’s been 15-20 years. No more wonderful soft ice cream up there.
I LOVE Chick-Fil-A; best ever. In every way - service is great - fast, accurate and polite. Even when they have “Hispanics”. And the best chicken sandwiches ever.
Although I agree somewhat about the spicy. CFA is SOOOO spicy! Wendy’s is nice and hot but not killer!
That is why I quit going to my local Wendys.
Since I’ve been with my husband, who had always liked it, every time we go to Fuddrucker’s, he gets sick! (Only him, though - I haven’t and neither has his best friend! LOL)
Sucrose is plain old cane sugar.
Sucralose is the generic name for Splenda.
It’s the major complaint everybody at my wife’s work has with Wendy’s. She works for a huge national truckload carrier the past 33 years, and it’s been repeated numerous times when the topic of lunch comes up, and where to go.
Apparently their order taking system has flaws that cause communications misfires, because everybody at her very extensively staffed office has given up on Wendy’s.
Too bad about the Applebee’s. I don’t personally like smoking, per se, but I hate the PC rules (it’s local, here). Applebee’s used to be kind of fun because the bar atmosphere was right there, and it was nice and open. Now the little “outer rectangle” segments are all closed in, and it can be a bit depressing. But at least it’s glass, and not real solid walls.
LOL - but of course, that means refills when they run out....
Yes, Wendy’s is the worst at order accuracey.
I’m not talking about forgetting cheese or giving you the wrong soda. They flat out forget straws, napkins, salad dressing and fries.
Another reason their drive-thru is so slow is that many customers have wised-up and check their orders before pulling away. That all takes time, especially to correct problems.
You and I are apparently the only 1s here who like Wendy’s as it was.
Meanwhile, most of the joints mentioned here I’ve never even heard of!

My grandfather (RIP 1987) worshipped McD’s coffee. My mom (she adored him, so no disrespect) thinks it was mostly because he was cheap as an old man!
I know crinkling is just the cut. I know my pickles pretty well! It is entirely different look. I don’t care if they crinkle my hamburger genuine dill, just don’t make it any other kind of pickle.
I don’t think the average Wendy’s is bad, but my parents’ 1 is terrible (I worked there when it was young).
Wanna guess why? Come on, you can guess.
BTW, so I don’t hold up people, I move forward of the window THEN check my order. If it’s too much stuff, I go inside. Drive-thrus are terrible because of the bad PA systems, for starters.
All right, I gotta ask, why do you keep typing sanGwich instead of sandwich?
Because that’s the way it’s said!
I’ll put Popeye up against the Colonel.
