Floridas most experienced political professionals are closely divided on whether Rick Perry or Mitt Romney will win Floridas Republican presidential primary, but overwhelmingly they see Romney as the stronger candidate to beat Barack Obama in Florida.
More than 100 of Floridas sharpest political minds participated in the latest St. Petersburg Times Florida Insider Poll - including campaign consultants, lobbyists, activists - and the results were striking: Two thirds of Democrats and two thirds of Republicans pegged Romney as the stronger general election candidate, though Republicans were considerably more confident than Democrats that Perry would win Floridas crucial presidential primary early next year.
Half the Republicans predicted Romney would win the primary and 41 percent predicted Perry. Among Democrats, 56 percent expected Perry to win the primary and 37 percent said Romney.
"Lets face it, Rick Perry is comfort food! Like pot roast, mashed potatoes, and extra gravy it feels good going down, then comes indigestion in the morning. Mitt is more of a balanced diet, high on vegtables, low on sweets, a recipe that is likely to win the blue ribbon on election day," said one Republican.

He's a RINO
If Mit can beat Obama anyone can.
100 cronies can’t be wrong.
IMO, a Romney nomination splits the party and the third party allows the Democrats to walk right back in, whether its Obama or not.
Unfortunately for these Florida political insiders, they are going to have to deal with us Florida political outsiders...
“The fix is in - the GOP establishment will try to shove Romney down the throats of Tea Partiers. “
I DESPISE the GOP Country Club Establishment. Bush & Company
sent us on the road straight to HELL !
Perry gets fewer Indies but more GOP.
Mitt gets fewer GOP but more Indies, but also probably gets a third party challenge from the right and that will reelect Oblahblah.
Romney will not win the primary. He will not get conservative support because he is a stink’n liberal.
Florida’s primary is closed (only Republicans can vote in it, no independents) so I think that strengthens Perry in the Sunshine State...
Who can't. The real question is what happens after he does. I don't trust this guy and think we will be on a different course of Progressivism that we will all hate. Any of the other candidates have a cleaner background than this dude. Except for Paul. He is an Reagan hating, pro Iranian Anarchist.
Open primaries in many states means that many Democrat voters will rush into our primaries and try to give us Mitt whether we like it or not. These people know how to play hard-ball. They will poison the well for us.
Half the Republicans predicted Romney would win the primary and 41 percent predicted Perry. Among Democrats, 56 percent expected Perry to win the primary and 37 percent said Romney.
Aren't these two statements contradictory?
To what avail?
My biggest problem with Romney, other than him being a complete political chameleon, is that he championed “Romney Care”. How can we nominate someone who advocated for the health care program that was the philosophical basis for the much detested Obamacare. Does not compute, especially when Romney will not renounce his earlier monstrous creation. Dr. Frankenstein must kill his monster so that we, the peaceful villagers of the adjacent hamlet can be assured that he won’t try something that stupid again.
YES. I'm surprised it took that long for anyone else to notice it.
You mean the GOP RINO establishment? =.=
Milt Perry or Ricardo Romney. What’s the difference?
Jeb Bush’s people.
