For the first time, more Americans have an unfavorable opinion of President Obama than have a favorable opinion of him, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll released late Friday, an indication that dissatisfaction with the president's job performance and the direction of the country is dragging down how Americans view Obama personally.
Just 39 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of Obama, while 42 percent view him unfavorably. In January of this year, 40 percent had a favorable image of Obama, and 34 percent had an unfavorable opinion. In January 2009, as he was inaugurated, 60 percent of Americans had a favorable opinion of him.
While the president's approval rating -- which is down to 43 percent in the new poll, an all-time low -- is an important indicator of his re-election standing, the high regard Americans felt for Obama personally was a sign that Americans hadn't yet given up on his presidency.
In the new CBS News/New York Times poll, Obama is being crushed by negative data points:
-- 72 percent of Americans believe the nation is on the wrong track, a new high for the Obama presidency.
-- 49 percent of Democrats now say that Obama's job performance has been worse than they expected.
-- 47 percent of Americans are either "not very confident" or "not at all confident" that Obama's jobs legislation "will create jobs and improve the economy."
-- Obama's favorable/unfavorable rating among independents: 31 percent/41 percent.

Does that mean that Mitt will stop talking about what a nice guy he is?
The whole stage act is imploding.
All these polls need to be NIST calibrated. Can’t help but think that some of them are kinda, like, biased.
Not only all of those characteristics but Obama is not even descriptive as to being a true believer in our Constitution. Of course there are many enablers like congresspersons and judges that don’t fit the description.
Where, O, Where are those styrofoam columns when I really need them? (Buckwheat)
I’m surprised its taken this long.
Winning the Future!!!
Ras poll is the most inaccurate bs around. Its robo calling and considered very unreliable. Its like hiring a fortune telling for a party . strictly for entertainment.

Yes and no.
You forget, America no longer comes even close to
resembling the America of 1976.
In 1976, Obumbo could not be elected county dog catcher.
Looking from afar, I see an America that in no way resembles even an America of 2000.
I started my world travels in 1999, and left for good in 2004.
No! I correct myself!
GREAT NEWS FOR THE U.S.!
I’ll be down there helping as time grows a bit closer to the election.
I was also wanting to comment on why I think my parents (Mom 83; Dad 93) don't seem to respond whenever I tell them that this 'man' is out to take America down and destroy it. They absolutely go into glazed over eyes whenever I tell them that this what this 'man' wants to do and is working toward that goal as fervently as he can.
I have come to the conclusion that they have always known presidents that have wanted to help America and make her better. It is so completely unthinkable to them that a president would want to take America down that they just cannot accept it in their minds.
The last time Rasmussen showed Obama with a positive number in the Daily Tracking Poll was 6/29/09.
Yesterday it was -17.
I think that you are quite right. I have reached that conclusion myself. That we could possibly have been infiltrated and allow such a traitor to be in the highest individual position in government is just beyond belief. And so many cannot wrap their brains around that.
My friend and I are still working on our project and hoping to unveil it soon. It has taken me longer than I expected to learn the ins-and-outs of the software we’re using and he can’t put in the time except in late evenings and weekends. Hopefully, soon we’ll be able to roll it out. The focus is on the House of Representatives and the need for conservatives in leadership.
Re post 12,13 and 14: You can say that again.
Heh. Franklin Pierce is one of those execrable pre-Civil war presidents who is barely remembered. Ironically, in Morton Illinois, where I work, there are Fillmore, Pierce and Van Buren streets, along with the usual Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Monroe and Jackson streets. I don’t know when the last time was that I saw these Presidents with a street named after them.

Algore in 1992 talked about things that should be up being down and things that should be down were up. Voters believed algore then; will they believe another popular liberal, Obama, in 2012?
