Seriously, it is you, pet, who needs a good dictionary; not to mention a good thesaurus.
You misused the word "obtuse" and have yet to impress anyone here, with more than a 5th grade education, with the words you have used.
I'm beginning to suspect that I need to dumb down the words I use, so that you may finally understand my replies.
To: Windflier
Let me get this straight, Winifred. You're acusing me of having to get in a dig at Palin, in the same post that you're asking me to give you a dig on Palin? Wow. So THAT is how the game is played. Lose/lose.
But I don't care. Like I said, I'm here to talk. As long as you're willing to maintain a civil tone with me, I'll do the same with you, as I always have (unless you're offended by my calling you Winifred). So here's the deal: as I said before, I have not been following Palin since 2009. I liked her after 2009, but felt like she was best at promoting the Tea Party and public speaking. I still believe that is where she is of best service, preaching to the choir. And I say this not as a dig, but because I do not believe anyone else will listen to her. This is my opinion. I felt like as McCain's VP she could get the national governing experience she needed and hone her skills. I do not believe she is qualified to be our president right now, just like Obama was not qualified. Having said that, I tuned her out. She's on our side and I'm glad she's out there working it.
It DID bother me that she quit the governor position. Strike one (after walking into the Couric fiasco -- that one was free). Strike two came with what I perceived as the appearance of impropriety when she took money for the lawsuit defense, all while making hundreds of thousands of dollars for speaking engagements. It made me mad that she was accepting $10, $5 from people that needed that money for themselves. Sarah Palin is a millionaire. And more power to her except that she took money from poor people. Strike three for me came Monday night when Palin was invited to attend the Tea Party debate. Not only did she skip that, but she then went on Fox News and suggested "something just wasn't right" about Perry and Gardasil...all the while she knew full well this was a federal program that she had taken money for herself as governor to allow in Alaska. It was incredibly disingenuous of her. And the next day Rush sends a shot across the bow and she and Bachmann both back the hell off. I call foul.
So here we are. And the rumor is she's "announcing" tomorrow. She has no campaign war chest. Only two years experience at a state level of government. She's got significant name recognition, yet 63% of the country say they would NEVER vote for her. This shouldn't make anyone happy that wants to get rid of Obama next year, Wini. So there you are. I answered your question. Flame away.

Not really. Get a dictionary. Words have histories. They may at times seem odd, but there are stranger stories by far in the evolution of language.
To: berdie
I'm not impressed by any of the announced candidates either.
OTOH, just keeping the House and winning the Senate won't help us much, unless we get more Conservative, who alsos have a spine, elected.

Not really. I’ve been told not to shake people from their illusions, it might make them psychotic.

Sorry, SR, but Drey doesn’t exhibit the sort of command of the language to use that word so deftly. For someone who claims to be a university professor, her posts are quite pedestrian, and not eloquent in the least.
Now, your posts read like those of a university educated person. Hers? Not even close.

The question is, who would agree to BE her VP?

Tell Ricky not to worry. If Palin kicks his butt it will all still be okay. Obama is toast.

What was this chestnut, “And more power to her except that she took money from poor people.” Next thing you are going to say is that she had sex with the Lakers.
When I say that Governor Rich Perry is the Yellow Pose of Texas (he is a poser) I say it with the utmost respect. But now you are hitting below the belt.
To: Windflier
Oh, well if you’re going to grade me on grammar and punctuation on a quick-draw thread, I surrender.

Look, you all know I’m a card-carrying mega-Palinista (yes, I own the label gladly), but I do not see the misuse of “obtuse” you keep complaining about, and its making me quite uneasy. What am I missing. She used it as a synonym for “stupid.” The dictionary says you can do that. Its acceptable usage. What am I missing here?
To: DRey
Who won’t? The line will be around the block and then some. I thought you were smarter than that.

Not only was it NOT an "accurate"description of my post, but it most assuredly was misused!
The word means : 1) dull ( as in not a sharp pain, or not quick to perceive, as well as in feelings, intellect, and/or observant ) 2) not sharp, acute, or rounded......for starters. Ergo, it was misused and used as a sort of insult; though one that is off the mark.
To: Sarah-bot
No. We have all made up our minds on who is conservative and who is not. Like I’ve said, I’m not here to sway opinions so much as to see what’s happening and what people are saying, plus drive the nut jubs crazy.
