The charges:
(1) that he unilaterally ordered a mandatory HPV Vaccine with an "opt-out" provision that the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons largely discredited. And that, only through the Texas legislature was forced to void.
(2) that he received not $5,000 in direct contributions from Merck as he alleged during the debate but $30,000 in direct contributions. Plus, received an additional $350,000 from the Republican Government Association in which Merck has contributed $4M in the past five years.
Some folks are applauding Perry for trying to maneuver Gardasil into the list of vaccinations covered by health insurance. But of course health insurance never creates money for patients; it simply “spreads the wealth” (and the burden). People’s premiums would rise if Gardasil were to become mandated coverage.
The free market is the best answer, especially since most of the danger of getting HPV is tied to life style choices. Let women decide whether to invest in Gardasil or not. And even Gardasil doesn’t prevent infection by all potentially deadly HPV strains.
Oh...
a "Concern Troll" huh?
You are totally understood.
I will make a guess regarding the timing of the family’s story coming out now. I read the earlier posting and the impression I got was this was a private relationship and I seriously doubt Perry was willing to exploit it just to defend his actions.
There wasn’t any press at his visits, and the pictures were all family photos taken shortly before the woman died. It was the family who decided to come to Perry’s defense because they knew the truth about his motivations, and were tired of seeing him unfairly smeared.
As far as HPV goes, keep your panties up and marry a good man and you will most likely be fine. Can this be taught in government schools? Apparently not. Why would anyone send their child to a place where God is mocked, common sense is reviled, and lies are taught from books as truth. I've heard that Christian children are needed at schools to influence the others, but anyone with one eye and half sense would know that a child will conform to others, not the other way around. If you are bold enough to tell them to not have sex, they might listen, but if you give them rubbers and a shot, what do you think they believe you are teaching them? It's considered "hate speech" to tell them to keep things out of your rectum if you don't want AIDS, so the first thing they try is sodomy so they won't get pregnant.
If you stand away a little bit and just take a long look, you may see just how far we have fallen into the abyss and you may feel a little guilt for what we are doing to our kids.
Perry had a flaw in his judgment, so we have to expand on that and see if it would affect other judgement calls he may have to make that we can't even imaging right now. You need to have good character to be a leader, even more than an education. Romney changed his mind on abortion. Look at how many other things he has had to flip flop on in the last few years. If you can't figure out that a fetus is a baby, what kind of judgements will you make on other things? Why did it take most of his life to figure that out? People are allowed to change their minds, but I think the president should have some core values to start with. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect someone to know that if they force something on my daughter, I will probably shoot them. They don't have the right to over rule the parents without a court order. Parental rights are natural in every culture on the planet and have been respected since recorded time. It makes people nervous for a leader to "forget" that.
You’re a Cain supporter, no?
I like Cain. I hope he wins too!
