Erik Wemple reports that Fox News says it tried to book Joe McGinniss to talk about The Rogue, but he said he was too busy.
Thats an interesting decision, given that McGinniss has been friends with Roger Ailes for 44 years.
McGinniss wrote in May about their friendship, which started when he was writing a column and the Philadelphia Inquirer and Ailes was producing the Michael Douglas Show in Philadelphia.
The post was sparked by Gabriel Shermans story on Ailes, which quoted an anonymous associate of the Fox News boss saying that he thought Sarah Palin was an idiot a claim that drew ferocious pushback at the time, but which McGinniss said he believes.
Note the true affection in McGinnisss writing about Ailes:
But the one quality Roger possesses that I admire above all othersand it is undoubtedly the one least known and appreciated by those who deal with him only professionallyis his generosity of spirit. Roger will do anything for a friend. My respect for his privacy prevents me from getting into detail, but I know this first-hand. Maybe someday, when hes retired, hell let me tell people about his extraordinary loyalty, unselfishness and generosity.
Roger and I are in frequent contact by email, we talk by phone at least monthly, and we get together for lunch or dinner at least a couple of times a year. We talk far more about family than politics. I gave up trying to convert him years ago, and hes known from my Philadelphia newspaper days that I was beyond redemption from his point of view.
When we do talk politics, its always off the record. Because Roger knows Ill never violate a confidence, he has no qualms about telling me exactly what he thinks of the various high-profile political and media people with whom he deals. So I cant, for example, tell you what Roger really thinks of Sarah Palin.
UPDATE: McGinniss responds: "Roger one of my closest friends over many years, but Crown publicity has me already booked for next week. Maybe later."
I’ve seen her defend her homosexual NY city friends before but this was the final straw for me.
After she said to the Do that he has no proof he hurts kids then he turned it around and said well there is no proof it doesn’t, well she did not like that at all.
I heard that she was on big mouth O.R still preaching that chaz bono was normal and that if you oppose this weird crap then we’re haters which is a typical thing for the left wing nuts.
Not saying she is left wing but she certainly can get all defensive for her pals up in NY City and name call like the left does.
I won’;t be tuning in in any more now.
BTW, sorry I forgot to add, I had no idea either till later in life and the first I ever saw was a trip to Boston with my kids and we turned on to Boylston street where there was a parade and I have never seen such sick things, pretend Nuns feeling each other up with a crucifix, two men walking in daisy duke leather shorts touching each other and my oldest aged 5 back then asking “Dad why are they feeling each others bums”
It was sick but now seeing Megyn Kelly defend cross dressing and thinking this was alright and we’re haters in her words then I was disgusted.
Why would anyone give free airtime to this scumbag unless the interviewer intends to ask some probing, truly inquisitive questions, which not many in the main stream media are willing to do. Perhaps some hosts on Fox would ask such questions, and the weasel is afraid to go talk with them?
It is a lawyer disease, Megan and that ditz Hoover, are a pair, Megan is beautiful, but straining at Gnats is the downfall for both, can’t watch either of them.
Anyone that can listen to Hoover for a segment and still complain about Palin’s voice as got a lot of gall.
Yeah, Fox is sooper-dooper conservative when it comes to the topic of things like taxes... yeah! Obama bad! Obama bad! ... but when it comes to about any other issue, and especially in regards to social-conservatism, they are unpalatably lib. Sometimes they try to hide this fact, so as to not alienate their viewers. This was very, very evident when the “gay marriage” in New York situation was going on. They barely mentioned it anywhere on their broadcasts, relegating it to a ten-second voiceover clip at ten minutes after the hour (while it was ‘headlining’ the other news outlets, which were obviously in celebratory mode). Downplayed the whole thing, so as not to rile up the ‘rubes’ in flyover country.
>> “So Ailes is friends with a scumbag for 44 years, another piece of the puzzle” <<
.
Ailes isn’t exactly a sweetheart himself.
>> “Because Ailes is so stupid that having a washed-up politician on contract is so good for ratings.” <<
.
If you look at MSNBC as an example, its clear that to the Mediots, their ratings are secondary to their mission. Ailes works for one of the most mendacious men on Earth.
Now they claim she had an affair with a black man. I just read an article that said she could be racist but still infatuated enough to have sex because it was taboo.
I think they have Sarah mixed up with Stanley Ann Dunham. She did that back in the 50's because it was taboo.
They are scared as hell about Sarah and pulling out every means they can. I don't think people are going to by their shit anymore.
Just in case the spelling police come out, that should have read buy their shit... :-)
I am so with you on m. kelly!
I nearly threw my shoe at the TV but el doggie wouldn’t move!
El doggie likes to sit on my shoes for some reason whereas m. kelly needs a a cranial/rectal transversion.
It’s my new thing with my family, gives them good reason to think that they can insert and reverse at a moments notice! “Oh Honey, it’s all good , you just need a “transversion” “Then I am just gonna swoop down and re-inversion you... if you get myah drift darlin””
The cranial and rectal aspects in this syndrome are not only healthy for your brains, but they help to prevent hemmohoids as well.
If I believed in pharmaceuticals, which I don’t, I would recommend giving the boob a drug at least once daily.
Good lord, what a dope!
ailes best not let anyone “kiss” him.

NAIL ON HEAD
FOX always tries to bury any social issues and the social agenda.
Then looking at them they have Geraldo
Shep smith
OR is just a big mouth know it all
Hannity is a phony conservative and has admitted he is liberal on social issues so he’s hardly a full conservative.
Megyn Kelly has now joined the ranks of who I cant watch.
The 5 show with Beckel is awful , why anyone watches that show with the miserable bad tempered pretend tough guy is beyond me.
can’t watch them either after seeing her attack the Doc and using her power to push her agenda and defend her elitist cross dressing pals.
As for Hoover, I hear you.
Both decent looking but they most certainly make themselves ugly with their attitude.
and hide any horses he owns...
Ah yes... the messy sheets!

the last straw for me was this week when I saw Megyn Kelly tell the shrink that he was a hater because he said letting kids kids watch chaz bono pretending to be a man is not good for them.

Oh, I got Kelly’s number a few years ago. She is definitely pro-homo. You would think that having children would have straightened her out.
I am with you on the Fox thing. I do DVR Brett and Greta, but wind up fastforwarding a good deal of it. Have totally given up on “Fox and Friends”, although I was a faithful watcher a few years ago.
If you missed my links, check out the Palin book thread with the 500+ replies. I posted a bunch of Bertelsmann links on it :)
same here,
I used to watch all the shows and was a big faithful viewer but FOX has been playing far too much to the left.
If I want to hear the lefts talking points then I’ll switch to all the other channels.
FOX mentions the fiscal matters but they avoid social issues and it is these social issues which are destroying our nation.
I agree with you about Kelly and her pro homo stance. It seems shes been living far too long in NY City and has got to know a few of these cross dressers and homos and so she defends them “because she knows a couple of them and they’re nice”
Hopefully Ailes friendship is over after 44 years.
Joe isn’t too busy for Fox. Joe is simply afraid he’s going to run into one or more of...the subject of his book, the subject’s husband, the subject and her husband’s son...in the halls.
