A new poll released Thursday morning shows President Obama's approval rating is dropping in Virginia -- a battleground state the Democrat took from Republicans en route to winning the White House in 2008.
These new numbers show the presidents disapproval rating has spiked in Virginia to 54 percent. The Quinnipiac University Poll is based on telephone interviews with 1,368 registered voters between September 7-12. The results mirror other polls that show a continuing slide in the presidents popularity in a slow, troubled economy.
Fifty-one percent of those surveyed say they do not think President Obama deserves to be re-elected. Thats compared with 41 percent who said they would re-elect him. In June 2011, 48 percent approved of the presidents performance. That number now sits at 40 percent.
Most troubling for Obama is his poor performance among independents, many of whom supported him three years ago. Sixty-three percent of unaligned voters disapproved of the way Obama is handling his duties while only 29 percent approved.

I know plenty about our politics, I lived in Fairfax county for 15 years, just left this May. 2008 was no fluke. 2004 was a squeaker, and we took it on the nose in ‘06. The governor’s race is on an off-off year and turnout is always low for those. McDonnell won because the libs and minorities stayed home. They won’t in 2012.
Bovine Scatology!! I have been here 11 years and you don’t shiite from shinola.
If you knew so much about conservative politics you wouldn’t live in MD.
Add PA, WI and possibly MI too.
Also ME and NH.
Thank You
Why the personal attacks? I live in MD because Obama destroyed my job (DoD, ‘nuff said) and I could only find work here. Just like Virginia, most of Maryland is conservative. It’s just further down the death spiral than Virginia. There’s only three lib areas in MD: Baltimore, Prince George’s County and Montgomery County. But they’ve wagged the dog for the last 30 years. Meanwhile the rest of the state has emptied out as agribusiness and fishing jobs go away. The result is a deep blue state that won’t go Republican again short of an Ebola epidemic in the cities (MD does have USAMRIID, so there is hope).
“Thats funny. Can I steal it as a tagline?”
Sure.
I lived in MD for most of my life and it is finished. It is going on the way to rock bottom then it will change. I know its politics well and its GOP is mostly RINOs with the exception of Bartlett and Harris. But the demographics in the liberal parts of VA are changing. Look at the results in NY-9 and think about what is happening.
I'm in Bartlett's district, BTW. (Kinda hard to not be in his district if you are west of Baltimore.) Good man. I voted for him when he got the seat back in '94.
I know I am right about VA as we have Democrats volunteering to work on GOP campaigns for this November’s elections. Besides we have gotten rid of lots of illegals who voted in 2008. They’ve fled to MD.
I know of one former Obama volunteer in NoVA who has flipped, but he's working for Ron Paul. Must be something in the water...
There is a big time Obuggery backlash building amongst the moderate/consevative Dems and Indy’s.
This is the NY-9 Effect. In NV-2 the GOP CM Elect Mark Amodei won by 22% in a Dem district. OTeleprompter Stupidula is now radioactive.
The key thing to remember is, all that “stimulus” money vanished somewhere, and it sure as hell didn’t get used to create (non-existent) green jobs and whatnot — it will be used to fund and finance dozens-to-hundreds of 527s in order to crush both Republicans and pre-bama Demwits.
Congress should spend the next fourteen months getting audits, and holding investigations and hearings on what happened to all the money.
