Gerald Celente: “Things Are Going to Get Much Worse…Society Is Breaking Down”

"Things are going to get much worse," Celente says. "Society is breaking down on every level: socially, economically, politically and it's not just the U.S. It's worldwide."

Celente believes the globe is following a similar path to what occurred after the 1929 crash: Severe economic contraction, followed by currency wars, trade wars and, ultimately, armed conflict.

Currency wars have already started he said, citing the recent decision by the Swiss National Bank to peg the Swiss franc to the euro. "Trade wars are next and then real wars, unfortunately," Celente predicts.

Unlike the 1930s and 1940s, The Trends Journal publisher believes major nations will avoid direct conflict "because they can annihilate each other."

The bad news is he expects more asymmetrical warfare, including the use of weapons of mass destruction such as bio-terrorism and "suitcase nukes."

No, but you forget that there are plenty of people in this world who would do it anyway. I am reminded of this quote from the movie 'The Dark Knight':

There has never been a society as complex as what we have now, so it’s impossible to even begin to measure the stages leading to complete collapse.

We don't need to measure them theoretically. We can read about them in the news, every day. It's not "maybe", it's occurring now.

well, his remarks about direct voting by computer show that he doesn’t really think things through. you could never have a clean vote by internet, or anything that holds public confidence. to be fair, i was thinking about his premises, but he losrt me there, adn the more I read thereafter, the more it seemed that he equates technology with utopia.

I agree. I had been casually reading all the Celente stuff but this time I listened to the video. The guy is nuts. His whole solution is to let people vote in some online democracy thing. Yeah, that’ll work. Pffft...

And again, Celente repeats the old MSM canard that George Bush led us into two wars. NO, the people who bombed the world trade center took us down that path. Yeah, yeah, WMDs. Yeah, Bush lied, right. Pffft...
