But the story gets even more interesting when you start connecting the dots. A key Merck lobbyist, a man named Mike Toomey, actually served as the governor's chief of staff. In other words, a former top power person for the governor now works for Merck, the drug company that gave money to the campaign of the governor who essentially used dictatorial power to mandate, without any public debate whatsoever, the mass vaccination of young girls with a drug that will earn tens of millions of dollars in profits for Merck. Sound suspicious? It should.
The "dirty money connection" seems obvious to many readers who have been following this story, including one who posted, "Only a man, Rick Perry especially, would sign an executive order, bypassing legislation, to inject girls with chemicals made by one of his contributors even though most parents have never seen sufficient information about this vaccine.
hardly a scandal
Another hit piece that omits key facts.
Just points out that Perry is just another smarmy politician.
Rick Perry didn't handle this terribly well. He admits that himself. I don't like it, but it doesn't make me think that he is a terrible person. I'm still basically neutral on him, and if he were the candidate I would certainly vote for him.
Michelle Bachmann probably made too much of this. I think it is an issue worth raising, but I think she bumbled it a bit and I think she is now suffering more than Perry is when the Gardasil issue is discussed. I still like Bachmann and would definitely vote for her.
Overall, I think a lot of people who don't like conservative women are blowing this out of proportion and using this topic as a way to push Bachmann off the stage. I'm not happy about that.
Yeah, it would be much easier if everyone would concentrate on optouts or legislature overrides rather than the meat of the matter which is the incestuous relationship between Perry and Merck.
Wait until the ETF stuff starts to get bigger. You guys are really going to get dizzy from the spinning.
I also don't like the ‘crony capitalism’ aspect of the story. However, I long ago gave up on politicians being pure as the driven snow.
Politics is a dirty business and I understand that anyone in this arena will not remain clean.
Doesn’t matter. Perry is going to be bludgeoned to death with the sound bite of that response he gave to Michele Bachmann. It is going to make life real, real interesting if he is the nominee. “So how much WOULD it take to buy you, Governor?”
“Rick Perry didn’t handle this terribly well. He admits that himself. I don’t like it, but it doesn’t make me think that he is a terrible person. I’m still basically neutral on him, and if he were the candidate I would certainly vote for him.”
Ditto...(though I am leaning a bit in his direction rather than being completely neutral).
(I KNOW that I don’t want Romney.)
“Overall, I think a lot of people who don’t like conservative women are blowing this out of proportion and using this topic as a way to push Bachmann off the stage”
Perhaps it’s because that it is their female daughters being affected. Tell me how many men will have a vasectomy(10 minute simple procedure) as opposed to making their wives have a rather invasive tubal ligation when a couple feels they want no more children. If it were male children having this vaccine mandated, I’d bet there would me much more made of the situation.
OK.
Clearly, vaccination issues are of paramount importance regarding federal executive branch policy, so I can’t imagine why anyone is still paying attention to Perry.
Oh give it up.
With Solyndra in the news, all the little Solyndras in Perry’s past will be pulled out to haunt him, one by one.
I agree and I don’t think Bachmann should’ve used this as a way to try and knock Perry out.
Personally I think Bachmann never did have a chance and it will be between Perry and Romney. I know this won’t make a lot of people happy but I do think that is the case.
So all Bachmann is doing is causing a scandal for the Republicans and in this election it’s the last thing we need. I don’t like that sort of politics and I think she should run on her own merit not mud slinging tactics.
I hope Perry keeps up his efforts to be a strait talker and that Newt give the others a view of how answer the media’s stupid gotcha questions - then maybe someone will be a GREAT candidate. I also am no Perry fan and think over time he will get a type of exposure that will, knock him out and leave a good (or better)person to win and run against Obambi.
Perry should use some Gardasil himself, he has some warts on his record.
Perry’s the one who caused the scandal by his actions in the first place.
Rick Perry;s so-called ‘scandal’ vs ‘Forced 0bama healthcare’?
Healthcare or be punished by taking money away from you?
Oh the humanity!
Give it up. Ain’t going no where.

That’s a top CEO of BOA telling Ricky just what he wants to hear....
Do you want any more?
