AKELAND - Two and half months is a long time to be stuck in the hospital, especially if you don't really have to be there. Yvonne Gallimore has been living at Lakeland Regional Medical Center because she had no place else to go.
Now, she finally does. Gallimore just moved into a duplex provided by the Lakeland Housing Authority. It's a big improvement, but not easy living yet. It has big, French doors, so she can get out quickly in case of an emergency.
"I was glad to get out of there," she said on Monday.
When emergency workers took Gallimore to the hospital a few months ago, they had to take down the bedroom wall of her old place because they couldn't get her out any other way.
After a FOX 13 viewer saw her story, she donated $100,000 to help.

Unfreakingbelievable
It's a big improvement, but not easy living yet.
Oh, well pardon me, for not providing your sloppy, disgusting body with better digs with my tax dollars. Please forgive me.
The Zoo would have been better.
Well, I hope she never has to haul ass, because she'd need to make two trips.
“After a FOX 13 viewer saw her story, she donated $100,000 to help.”
That was a kind gesture on the donor’s part. Is’s better to help the needy in that way than with taxpayer money and it usually produces better results.
Thankfully, now when she sits around the house, she really sits around the house.
Disgusting. This is what Paul was talking about last night. Being in a free society means making decisions. She decided to stuff her face.
Shocking. I thought our 'community' would leave her in the gutter to die. I'll email this one to Blitzer.
Sorry but I have to disagree. At 750 pounds, I'm thinking it'll easily take at least three or four trips.
It was a stupid gesture giving that much to someone who is self-destructive and really just engaging in a drawn out suicide.
Two and a half months in the hospital, did she take the opportunity for medically supervised weight loss? Educate herself on a healthy diet? Participate in family therapy so that her family members no longer enable her pathology?
100K donation from one woman, a four-bedroom house from Habitat for Humanity, public housing until that’s ready...why, why, why?
Bartender, a round of co-dependent therapy for the house!
I fervently hope google won't catch her taking a jug shower outside her front door...
She got $100,000.00 but will be living in a Lakeland Housing Authority house?
Couldn’t she buy her own damn house?
If I was going to make a donation, I’d make it to a Medifast doctor so he could help get her to a healthy weight.
I can’t believe we subsidize these people. They’re “disabled” because they’re too fat to function. I’d rather “invest” in an inpatient weight loss program and after that let her fend for herself without freaking food stamps!
Is it that or a medical condition? Sometimes people gain vast amounts of weight after losing the ability to walk. Some kinds of medicine cause the metabolism to slow down. I don’t know enough about this woman to make any judgement.
[cue Sam Kinison screaming]
Okay, this article says she has lymphedema.

So I have more sympathy for her. I was uncharitable.
But I’m not sure how anyone can live carrying around 600 lbs of fluid - it would be weeping through her skin.
I will tell you a little story it is about my sister she was always heavy but not near as heavy as this lady is..I had a cousin that made fun of her every time she saw my sister..One day I told cousin you know what one day when you are fat I hope you remember what you did to Linda and made fun of her..I said you will get paid back one day..Well she did and she became very over weight she is still fighting the pounds..I forgave her she was a little girl but you people are adults..Shame on you..
I just can’t believe that there isn’t a medical issue with overly obese people like this. How can you eat to sustain this weight. I feel sorry for people like this. Not only must their lives be misery but then they are degraded and mocked by all you beautiful people. Say a prayer for her.
“It was a stupid gesture giving that much to someone who is self-destructive and really just engaging in a drawn out suicide.”
This is no different than providing a gift card from a liquor store to an alcoholic.
“How can you eat to sustain this weight”
Someone has to be an enabler. She wouldn’t be able to fix her own food or even make it to the kitchen.
