Rush Limbaugh: 'Bachmann may have jumped the shark'
The Daily Caller ^ | September 13, 2011 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 09/13/2011 12:29:10 PM PDT by supahstar2005

After scoring points against Texas Gov. Rick Perry in last night’s Republican debate on the issue of Gardasil vaccinations, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann made a statement on the Fox News Channel that she was informed Gardasil caused one child’s mental retardation.

On his Tuesday radio show, Rush Limbaugh thought attacking Perry on that issue was ill-advised but admitted Perry had “goofed up” with that executive order.

“Alright, Perry goofed up by using an executive order on the Gardasil,” Limbaugh said. “There’s no question he goofed up on it instead of taking it to the Texas legislature. He’s admitted that over and over again. I think one of the reasons that Perry gets tired is that he had all the questions. He had to answer a question three or four times last night and he did it smiling.”

These campaigns bring out the worst in folks.

You thought maybe they were for some other reason?

Perry is a place holder for the discontented Tea Party people, he will dutifully drop out to make way for Romney, unless there is some big guns in the wings, waiting for the survivors to be mortally wounded.

Turkey Shoots are a lot of fun, if you are not the turkey.

smart, experienced, knowledgeable, polished, electable.

At this point of the process, Reagan was not granted any of those characteristics, except for polished. And the reference to polish was negative, he was just a B-move actor reading his note cards.

Electable is a funny idea. Republicans thought Reagan was not electable, and McCain and Dole were. Few thought Obama was electable early in the primaries. And certainly experienced and knowledgeable did not apply to Obama.

I'm more interested in who's the more principled candidate, and whether their principles agree with mine.

Perry/Santorum?

I would have loved a Perry/Santorum ticket. I think Santorum threw that possibility away last night. Imagine taking Texas and Pennsylvania. Some of these second tier candidates are not thinking ahead.

Rather than to fade into the lib background, Rep. Bachmann decided to shine, and shine she did! I thought she neatly knocked both Romney and Perry out of the spotlight . Both men looked stunned! ;o)
Go Michelle!

It’s pretty obvious listening to him the past few weeks that Rush supports Perry.

My response, if I am Rick Perry, to Bachmann.

Bachmann: "Hey, Rick, I've heard of Gardasil vaccinations causing mental retardation."

Perry: "Oh, okay, *that* explains all of your gaffes and mistatements. Didn't even know you were a Texan when I wrote that Ex. Order!"

Governor of California = experienced executive.

House of Representatives = not so much.

I didn't see Palin's interview but I feel in the end Palin & Perry will team up

I think that too, and I think that would be a dynamite ticket.

And her remarks on Perry no way affect their friendship.

Agreed on this as well. Both Rick Perry and Sarah Palin know the vetting needs to start somewhere. Sarah framing the vetting direction and "first up" for him was not a bad thing at all.

I agree. It won't hurt their friendship at all.

Rush favors beating obama... I favor beating him with someone that will reverse what obama has done. I do not trust anyone on that stage to do what must be done... except for Cain. I also think as Rush said today... that others will enter the race and that it is not too late to do so. He even said Christie would be better than obama... I see things a bit differently than Rush. I trust the republican machine far less than Rush does... and he does not trust them at all.

Hey, I agree with you on this but the larger point is why is everyone ganging up on Perry instead of Romney? This is not going to be a big issue in the general unless this thing gets all blown out of proportion.

If she attacks Perry on the immigration / tuition for illegals issue, she’ll get more traction as it’s an issue that concerns independents and liberals as well. As for the Gardisil, she’d be wise to drop it.

If the election was held today, any of the Republican candidates could beat Obama. Who knows what can happen between now and November, 2012?

Perry is leading romney by 6 points... that is the reason. The frontrunner is always under attack... always... until he/she are no longer the frontrunner.

Rush only endorsed Perry AFTER he had sewn up the nomination... and IF Perry wins the nomination... Rush will endorse him... but not one microsecond before... and Rush said that not me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He will endorse no one until the primary is over.

Yeah, Bachman went way overboard last night. I’ll have to find the picture of her kissing Romney - it’s too good to lose. Strangest thing is her not even looking at Perry when she blasted him, nor when he responded. Really odd.

“Rush turned into a Perry Spin Doctor also? Sad.”

I’m not sold on Perry. But I really dislike it when an R goes out to deliberately damage the possible R presidential nominee in the general election. That’s what Bachmann’s comments sounded like. She’s a presidential candidate and she ought to have a lot more evidence before slinging around accusations of dishonesty and payoffs. Her comments will be appearing in DNC ads if Perry wins the nomination. Similar to George I’s attacks on Reagan in 1980. They went way over the line.

Even worse. Qui bono? Of course, the answer is Romney and Obama, both of whom suck. I used to like Bachmann but this leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. If she runs again for president in the future, she’s going to have to grow up before I support here.

Agree, Don't know why Rush would defend Perry with this, and he's just the same as Mike Huckabee on illegal immigration
