Rush Limbaugh: 'Bachmann may have jumped the shark'
The Daily Caller ^ | September 13, 2011 | Jeff Poor

After scoring points against Texas Gov. Rick Perry in last night’s Republican debate on the issue of Gardasil vaccinations, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann made a statement on the Fox News Channel that she was informed Gardasil caused one child’s mental retardation.

On his Tuesday radio show, Rush Limbaugh thought attacking Perry on that issue was ill-advised but admitted Perry had “goofed up” with that executive order.

“Alright, Perry goofed up by using an executive order on the Gardasil,” Limbaugh said. “There’s no question he goofed up on it instead of taking it to the Texas legislature. He’s admitted that over and over again. I think one of the reasons that Perry gets tired is that he had all the questions. He had to answer a question three or four times last night and he did it smiling.”

In my humble opinion, the only thing these debates accomplish is to give the opposition ammunition for the general election. Don’t these candidates realize this?

Not today he wasn't... he said that Perry will have far more trouble with his immigration problems than with the merck garbage. He said Perry has many things in his time as Governor that he will have to face head on... and that is a fact. He also said that any of those on the stage last night... excluding paul... would be far better than obama. While that might be true... that is no reason to vote for anyone. Rush is trying to keep those of us who are fed up with the republican party as it is today... from venturing off with a third party. Rush is doing what he thinks is the right thing to do. He has not come close to endorsing anyone.

I disagree that she isn’t smart enough, experienced enough and knowledgeable enough (she is), though I agree that she is NOT polished or electable.

It seems she went one step too far.

Yes she did. I'm no longer sending her money.

Furthermore, the Gardasil! issue has gone beyond the barf stage. Even FReepers won't let it go.

This topic reminds me of when Giffords was shot and the libs went forever bat-shit blaming Palin's "targeting."

It was her laugh that did it for me. No real person laughs like that (unless they are inherently strange).

I'd like to thank the Republican candidates for taking the focus off my destruction of America.

This is going to sound cold, but did that mother do any research on the vaccine before she brought her kid in for the shot? I’m a mother, and I make dang sure I research anything before it goes into my kid’s body. Personal responsibility, ya know? When the chicken pox vaccine was mandated for public school, I refused until further research was done. This is America for Heaven’s sake. Don’t give your kid something unless you absolutely trust the source.

Bachman needs to shut up now. She had every right to go after Perry at the debate, but this follow up is ridonk.

I’ll take Perry/Palin, you can have Romney/Bachmann. :)

After last night's interview where she insinuated that Perry is a crony capitalist and can be bought for $5000, I don't think you will see that ticket.

More likely it will be Romney/Palin.

They are the front runners... that is how it works in politics... and it is disgusting... but it is the way it is done. If you want to become THE LEADER... you must take down the present leader... or as Rick Flair says, “TO BE THE MAN... YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE MAN”.

No kidding and now all these Einsteins have managed to get Romney 6 points ahead of Perry on Intrade.

Why are all these candidates helping Romney, including Palin?

The guy eats up the attention! Why do I get the feeling he really is flying by bby the seat of his pants? Sorry, but Perry just doesn’t ring true to me. He may be just glass, but if he is crystal, there is a crack in ghere somewhere.

I am suprised no one has added Michelle's head to Fonzi Jumping the Shark.

Sad, she is not ready for primetime leadership, her being looked over for House Leadership should have been the tip off, good firebrand back bencher yes, I am not sure she is ready for more....

She came across as desperate and overreaching. It's like anytime that a liberal tries to correlate raising taxes with the “but it's for the cheeeeeeldren” argument. Break out the Nutella, she's toast.

Rush is definitely on the pharma bandwagon. He has been very dismissive of any claim from any quarter that these immunizations might not be all that they’re cracked-up to be.

It was no gaffe. There are HUGE numbers of people in this country who suspect these things have negative side-effects. There may not be any scientific proof, but they darn sure believe it. And that 2/3 of the required immunizations are on the list because some politician took a payoff. One thing we seem to have learned from this is that Merck had meetings where they discussed how many states would have to make Gardisil mandatory before they could recoup their R&D costs.

She is mining a potentially large pool of votes with this issue.

Palin will not work with Romney.

And her remarks on Perry no way affect their friendship.

I didn't see Palin's interview but I feel in the end Palin & Perry will team up.
