Essentially, I think you make very good points and believe we are fairly much in agreement with one another.
Sorry I did cause that confusion by forgetting to italicize the other poster's "opt-in" question. I think I have received more replies on that post than any other post I have done since I joined FR in 1998!
bump for tomorrow.
FWIW, I went to Junior College.
Saved thousands of dollars over all those fools who went to a 4 year college first.
Where in the Constitution does it mandate that an illegal will get a special privilege over a citizen?
She lied about Perry.
Repeatedly
J.D. Hayworth. McCain destroyed his life, he didn't just defeat him, he destroyed him totally and completely financially and professionally, and Sarah helped McCain to do it. She never stepped forward once to help out JD afterward, not once.
Still, I'd vote for her but I'll never have the respect for her that many here do.
The lies about vaccines being FORCED on kids here in Texas.
The hysteria is obvious.
Your post is interesting. I’ve had several vaccines for various things, incluing some for overseas work/exposure. Makes me wonder what’s in all that stuff. Maybe I’ve paid for some of it healthwise. Who knows?
That said, Perry's answer was stupid. He could have said:
Let me start by saying I truly appreciated your endorsement in my race for Governor two years ago. Five years ago I signed the bill that negated my EO before it ever went into effect, and admitted I had made a mistake.
Your implication now that my influence is for sale deeply offends me and frankly is beneath you.
I joined the Army.
Earned 5 years of college/master with a 4 year contribution of time.
Tell that to someone who has just been diagnosed with mesothelioma.
Man I can't believe some of the stupidity I read on this forum. You have probably broken a record for posting the two stupidest comments I have ever seen on Free Republic on the same thread.
Wanna go for 3?
The anti-vaccine campaign has worked very well.
Whether it is good or bad, who knows.
There’s so much info out there - hard to separate what is true and what is overhype.
Perry is playing rope a dope.
He knows where he stands.
Actually, I thought you meant new emails sent out about Perry by Palin. I didn’t understand what you were saying, sorry.
I dodged the draft. Actually, the draft dodged me. But that's a long story.
>> “Well, a parent who opts out of a vaccine due to either conscience issue or because they were sold a bill of good about evils of vaccines, ends up putting their children at risk.” <<
.
At risk of a long, healthy life that is.
Well, I shall now be categorized among the pitiful. As in PEE TEE ful bunch who aren’t 100% on board with a female POTUS. At least I don’t count Dem shemales as females.
Maybe I just need to get my ears checked. ;>
I would have thought by now they would have reported on some phony instant MSM polling?
Not a believer in polling, but it gives an indication of which way the pollsters are going to go with this. As we all know the pollsters are all MSM or Rep est, so I do get a kick out of them.
Any thing?
On opt-out - I pointed to the text of the state law, and the law is that no person can be punished for not taking vaccines, so no, its not up to the govt to decide, if a parent opts out, its their choice:
http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requirements/texas.aspx
What you are not aware of apparently is that Gov Perry Exec Order was trying to make the opt-out easier.
http://wingright.org/2011/08/07/dose-of-reason-perry-and-gardasil/
“The Governors Executive Order (RP 65) that caused all the controversy also ordered the director of DSHS to make it easier for parents to opt out of vaccines. The Legislature had changed the law from opt in to a requirement to opt out once for all the school years. Next, they changed to a two year limit on the opt out, and then in 2005, the Legislature restricted the period to one year and required a new State form bearing a seal. Parents had to go to Austin or start early in the summer. There were bureaucrats who maintained that the only way to get the form with the seal was to go to Austin, find the right office and make the request in person. Perry used his EO to tell the Director of DSHS to make the request (and the seal) available on-line, making it easier to opt out.”
“there is no data showing Gardasil saves lives, “
There is. The above article also discusses efficacy of Gardasil.
HCI comment on the HPV vaccine, these prevent about 70% of cervical cancer cases:
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/prevention/HPV-vaccine
“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved two vaccines to prevent HPV infection: Gardasil® and Cervarix®. Both vaccines are highly effective in preventing infections with HPV types 16 and 18, two high-risk HPVs that cause about 70 percent of cervical and anal cancers. Gardasil also prevents infection with HPV types 6 and 11, which cause 90 percent of genital warts (6). “
Sorry to bore you with facts.
So you favor breathing apparatus and lifevests for bathtubs and swimmers? These will save lives by preventing drownings.
Cervical cancer deaths about 4000 per year in America, drowning deaths around 3500 per year.
Should we mandate floaties and scuba tanks with working regulators for all swimmers? If not why not.
