The Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, she earned a Master of Laws degree, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Jon Huntsman
Huntsman was Utah Governor, former ambassador to China under Barack Obama.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. Hes an ob-gyn and was Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008
Rick Perry
Perry is the three term governor of Texas, from 2000 to current. He is a retired Air Force captain for former farmer. He has a degree in animal science.
Mitt Romney
Romney was governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican 2008 nomination for president. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
Gingrich hits it out of the park on the Oil tax breaks, loop holes question. GE didn’t pay taxes. All the breaks for green energy are tax breaks and loop holes.
Is there a vaccine against hyperbolic argument?
“If they want to allow the children, as you stated, who have been going to school in Texas to continue their education (which they have to pay for themselves) then it’s the business of TEXAS.”
You obviously have let your love for Perry overshadow your understanding of the serious wetback problem we face nationwide, but particularly in Texas. States rights is a good thing; illegal immigration IS NOT! Perry stepped on his crank in the debate on this issue. He is out of touch with those of us strongly opposed to ANY form of illegal immigration. His views are bordering on Dream Act Light.
The problem is that the kids you mentioned are often getting lower SAT scores and have lower GPAs, but because of “diversity” goals, they are getting in. I’ve seen it first hand, and it’s wrong. Thankfully, my son got into the college he wanted to attend. We have another go around with my daughter in two years. The problem is we are seeing an unarmed invasion, and nobody seems to want to do anything about it or disincentivise it. What part of ILLEGAL do people not understand?? Why do few people care about the impact on law abiding citizens?
Gingrich: Shrink Government to fit income. GOOD ONE!
Actually if you watched Sarah live when she supposedly praised Perry for his comments on SS, it was not like it has been reported, transcript does not really do it justice.
Much like when it was reported that Sarah said she was very happy with the current field, that was reported all over the press...Palin very happy with current field.
Actually in reality they had to drag that out of her, and in an attempt to not sound to negative answered yes I am happy with it, but added more will be getting in and that is good. I paraphrase
Sarah had every opportunity over the last little while to correct the way her comments had been received by C4P for example, she did not and tonight after Gretta there is now no doubt....
Rotflol!
OK Corral
First whoever ends up running against the Obamation needs to win because Obama needs to go.
Bachmann impressed me tonight for the first time. She seemed ok in past but tonight she got my attention. I will be looking at her more closely. (and I am a man BTW) I am thinking the snipes at her from tonight are Perry pouters. ahh did she say some nastys about Ricky...If Perry cannot handle a GOP debate I have grave doubts about him on center stage in a national election. Perry does not impress me one iota, don’t believe him...don’t believe him .... don’t believe him... not very good speaker either. If he wins the nomination I hope he wins against Obama, because Obama has to go, but right now I am vetting those who want the nomination.
I think Cain is the real deal but he is not gonna make it to the front to get the nomination IMO.
I am glad Newt is in the debates for what he adds but he is never going to be President. Love his wit and smarts, he is a fast thinker on his feet.
Paul would be great for shrinking government and spending but has to many negatives to win.
Palin.... I believe she will run and announce early next month.
Thanks so much for the link Irenic! Gosh, that’s worse news than I even knew, but judging by the morals of society nowdays I wouldn’t doubt it.
I hope many see your post and the link!
Drink!
This also protected students from a communicable disease, because students have sex with each other.
I disagreed with making it a mandatory vaccine for school, but it’s silly to pretend that students at school don’t hook up and have sex, or that having them vaccinated won’t save lives and prevent the transmission of a virus that will seriously impact the rest of their lives.
[Newt is right. The media is successfully turning the Republican candidates and the conservative voters against one another while Great Leader continues to get a pass.]
It is sickening. This plays right into the media’s hands. They focused very little on the economy, debt, and deficit again tonight.
What lies and what hysteria?
Affirmative action is evil.
People like Ron Paul’s response that executive orders should not be used to legislate!!!!
>> “Children who have eaten nothing but mother’s milk are occupying cancer wards as we speak” <<
.
And what were their mothers eating while they were in gestation and nursing?
Get off it PM, the diet has been proven to be the chief cause of cancer. There isn’t a cancer that can’t be cured by the right diet, as long as no pharma poisons, radiation, or surgery have spoiled the chances.
Most people try it after the AMA quacks have rendered them 90% dead, and then all the mediots blame “alternative medicine” for their deaths as they did with Steve McQueen and Coretta King.
“On this forum, any candidate who is not Sarah Palin is the Anti-Christ.”
You may be on to something.
By the way MD Anderson and Texas lead the nation in cancer research AND CURES
Oh man. Don't get me started,
I don’t know. I do think there is a basic fairness issue though, especially where government is involved.
I mean, I get that health insurance is a risk pool. But government mandate, designed as an opt-out for insurance purposes, seems to me to be close to the type of socialization conservatives decry.
I also understand that the Gardasil incident is one item and event. I also know I don’t care for the concept, and I am glad to see Perry repudiate his past actions.
