Mitt flier: Perry 'wants to kill Social Security' (being distributed in Florida)
Politico ^ | September 10, 2011 | ALEXANDER BURNS

Posted on 09/10/2011 1:47:27 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

The Tampa Tribune posts a flier that the Mitt Romney campaign is distributing in Florida, attacking Rick Perry as "reckless and wrong on social security."

The top of the flier has pictures of a smiling Romney and a surly-looking Perry, and reads: "Two candidates. Only one will protect what's important to you." Continue Reading

"Rick Perry believes social security is a 'failure,'" the flier says, quoting the Texas governor's book. "Rick Perry believes Social Security is unconstitutional ... Rick Perry does not believe Social Security should exist ... How can we trust anyone who wants to kill Social Security?"

Notably not mentioned in the flier: the term "Ponzi scheme," which Perry used to describe Social Security in his book and again in the POLITICO/NBC debate Wednesday. While some Perry critics have fixated on that language, the Romney campaign apparently believes it's not the worst of Perry's problems when it comes to the popular entitlement program.

Except for the photo of Romney, the flier is also almost exactly the kind of attack the Obama campaign could use against Perry in a general election.

I thought I didn't have to add a sentence to my post that Perry better get his dogie in gear and repair Romney's damage.....I think we all know he has to do this.

Perry will handle it very well, I know.

Florida is a key state...and he can take the primary if he goes on the offensive against Romney's offensiveness.

I remember Mittens against McRino...and the debates...he plays no different than the left...he is a lying scumbag...and will do whatever he can to Perry he can get away with. After how I saw him conduct himself last time...I don’t trust this little SOB at all. But hey, he doesn’t know Rick Perry...Rick Perry is a street fighter and will go after his jugular...man, I wouldn’t ever get in Perry’s way. Mittens is playing with TNT...

"Sneaky" is the right word for it. Watch for Romney robo-calls to Florida seniors the day before the primary telling the folks Perry wants to kill SS.

Gov. Walkin' Lawton Chiles pulled this stunt in 1994 when losing gubernatorial challenger Jeb Bush became the victim of thousands of phone calls to seniors from phony groups claiming that Bush opposed SS and Medicare.

Suntan Charlie Crist used similar tactics against Marco Rubio in the last Florida senate race, but was unsuccessful.

So, the sneaky technique is not new and not always victorious, but Perry cannot afford to take lightly Romney's smear campaign aimed at retirees.

Kid, I gotta give you credit for being honest, unlike a whole lot of other paul supporters who try to avoid the flames by claiming Palin.

Hope you ain’t holding your breathe for the Lady. I say she is doing what’s important for her family, by making hay while the sun shines. Once the nomination and election are played out she can retire back to Alaska.

Would like to see her and Perry work out some team-up.

[because we will win regardless of who we put up.]

I’m afraid I don’t share your optimism on that. Obama seemed to come out of nowhere, did nothing much and was suddenly nominated for President. Then he was “adored” by mesmerized fans.

He had ACORN and all unions behind him and I firmly believe he had OTHER countries contributing and pushing his Presidency. Who even paid for his Ivy League Colleges? Someone unknown.

I believe he was the first to use phones and electronic transfers of money from other countries by credit card - transfers that couldn’t be traced. We can well believe this from his agenda, he is a muslim at heart and it shows.

The dems sign up dead people, they bus people from flop houses and street corners and get away with “helping” them in the voting booths if they can’t speak or read English. A Citizen HAS to be able to read, write and speak English!

So, no, I don’t believe they couldn’t cheat their way out of winning again. We need someone really strong, someone with a lot of connections, someone who has been in the fight many times and knows his way around, and we need to have all polling stations monitored.

One thing I know for sure, Perry loves our country.
Just my humble opinion, for what it’s worth........

Bump your graphic.

On Twitter, "Mitt won't drink coffee, but he'll lie about Perry"...

Mitt ran a dirty campaign in '08...don't expect any difference now, especially since he was already measuring the Oval Office for new drapes before Perry announced!!

Wow, goin’ for the throat.

I don’t know if this’ll work in Florida. The seniors in America, as demonstrated on Rush Limbaugh’s show this past week, are not as susceptible to the notion that ANY politician really wants to “kill Social Security”.

Mitt is taking a gamble here. He may convince a few Democrat kooks, but I doubt he’ll convince a lot of Republican seniors...and that is the audience this is directed towards.

LOL! That's worth repeating.

I doubt Mitt Romney can bury Perry by using Obama talking points.

Every time Mitt does this, it will remind primary voters that Mitt is way too liberal to call himself a Republican. Using socialist campaign strategies is a faux pas when you’re in the GOP primary. Mitt is done.

Because you know me and know I am not. Why is my question such a bad thing. The guy was a liberal democrat and loved Al Gore of all people and I am the troll.....sometimes you guys make absolutely no sense. Answer the question or f off.

Answer it yourself and quite asking such dumnass questions like a troll. What is your major malfunction? Reagan was originally a dem - in California. Perry was a dem in Texas in the 1980s.

Of course Rick Perry has been a Governor for 10 years and in political life for a long time. So it's there for all to see not just what he has said but what he has done. Perry lays it out there. By now everyone should have done their own homework and decided whether they can support Rick Perry or not.

That’s the absolutely last straw. Romney is a sleazebag. (So is Perry—but he’s the victim in this instance.)

If voting for Bachmann means purposely undercutting Perry and we get Romney as the nominee. I won’t hesitate to vote for Perry in the primary.

That is a serious consideration.....As much as I am not particularly a fan of Gov Perry.....Romney would be a disaster. There is so much time and if it looks like Romney will get the nod and perry is very close to Romney and my vote makes a significant difference.....whole new ball game then, and Perry will get my vote. Again, lots and lots of time to figure all that out. Can you imagine all my ranting and raving about Gov Perry and it comes down to me HAVING to vote for the guy. Now that would be a hoot! However, I hope it doesn’t come to that ONLY because Romney would be too close for comfort.

No, not exactly. What Perry said is correct. He said Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. The young pay in to cover the old. He said if anyone tells our 25-30 year old kids that Social Security as it exists will be there for them is lying to them. He said absolutely noting about Social Security for our Seniors. He was talking about our young people and this has been said by others over and over. That is why SS must be reformed if there will be anything left.

Hmmm, the timing of this might be good - since they will be debating in Florida this coming Monday night! It will give Perry a chance to explain his views.

Monday Tampa debate

Following week:

Wednesday Orlando debate
Thursday GOP conference
Friday Flordia Straw Poll

Hey, Romney people. I know that you are monitoring this posting.

Based on this flier I have decided that I will not ever vote for your guy. I will not vote for president before I will vote for Romney.
