If the child dies, she faces death here in Texas and I’m fine with that. Beyond that, into torture? That’s a sign of a sick mind.

If the child lives, the mother should have life in prison.
If the child dies, the mother should be executed within the week.
If the mother is unrepentant, she should be in hell eternally.
If the mother is repentant, she should be in Purgatory as long as it please our Father; and then be in Heaven with her murdered daughter and the Lamb that was slain for all: whereupon the mountains will leap like young rams, and the oceans clap their hands, and all the Universe exult at the mercy of God.

I wonder if Brian Williams is able to sleep at night after hearing about this crime?

Such a scenario seems more God pleasing than blood lust for vengeance.

When Jesus was confronted with the woman caught in adultery, His argument against her being stoned to death was not that she didn't deserve it, but that there was nobody there who was morally fit to carry out the sentence. It was a commentary not on the woman directly, but on everybody else in that blood-lust-fueled stoning crowd.
I often think that the same is true of us. It's not that a heinous murderer doesn't deserve capital pubishment, but that all the rest of us are too foul to carry it out without further sickening our souls and deepening our own corruption.

I would be. The kids will one day still want to know who their mother was. They should be taken away from her and put into good foster care homes or adopted, but they would still want to know at some stage. This woman should be put in prison, to rigorous imprisonment for endangering the life of a minor and to whatever else. This would mean at least a 2 year sentence I'm guessing (I don't know) and after that she should be put on probation for a long time.
She's still the mother, the demon-mother perhaps, but still the mother. If she was some other woman or worse a man, i'd fully agree with the harshest penalty.

My husband and I were talking about this. He said, "You know, that poor little child -- if she lives, if she regains consciousness --- what do you think her first word will be? ---
Mama."
It's shocking, it's piercingly sorrowful, but it's true. She will want her mama, even a hell-bent mama who tortured her so pitilessly. Kids are that way. There is bond, impossible as it may be to believe.
May God have mercy on us all.

"You know, that poor little child -- if she lives, if she regains consciousness --- what do you think her first word will be? --- Mama. And he is correct.
If it was any other person than the mother I would be probably in the crowd calling for lots of punishment. But in this case, no, the perp is the mother and the 2-year old wants a mother.
