A man accused of being part of a terrorist cell in the Triangle has been linked to what U.S. counter-terrorism officials have called a credible but unconfirmed al-Qaida threat to set off a car bomb on bridges or tunnels in New York City or Washington.
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Jude Kenan Mohammad is among three al-Qaida leaders that investigators believe pose a particular threat because they have lived in the U.S.
Mohammad, 22, dropped out of Fuquay-Varina High School in 2006 and left the U.S. two years later to visit Pakistan, his father's homeland.
A federal grand jury indicted him and seven other Triangle men in 2009 on charges that they conspired to carry out terrorist activities around the world. Two of the men have pleaded guilty, and the trial of four others is set for Sept. 19 in New Bern.
Federal authorities have never arrested Mohammad in the case, saying that they believe he has been in Pakistan since the indictment was issued.

who does the NC pung list?
Isn’t there somebody in the White House that did the same thing? /s
Dad was from Pakistan, what makes you think he ever had to convert in order to be a Muslim?
Thought it was kind of weird to have a name like “Jude Kenan” Mohammed. That sort of name suggests he is a convert.
Ten years later and we’re still allowing terrorist cells to operate.
AMERICANS FOR A MUSLIM FREE AMERICA.
WE LEARNED ALL WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ISLAM ON 9/11
Ping
Islam is a scourge .. a pox .. on civilization.
There is nothing civilized about it.
It’s purpose is not to advance the state of mankind, it is meant to ensnare, enslave and engulf all it comes in contact with.
Hey, when your last name is Mohammed and you’re raising your kid in the US, you’ve probably already got the Islamic name thing covered.
Well that narrows it down eh?
Well who knows, maybe so? Why is it that important to you?
notice how the terrorism alert comes up to bury the horrible speach given by the son to be impeached O
This whole freenzy about a 9-11 attack smells rotten to me. Used to think that people whole talked about ‘False Flag” attacks were nuts. If we see an attack this weekend I’m looking seriously at Washington for instigation!
Triangle Man hates Particle Man.
Why is having violent enemies of America living here important?
Seriously?
Obama was talking up the possibility of terrorist attacks a while back also. I thought, “Oh, no. They’re trying to get somebody to attack us. Projecting their plans.”
Drudge had the “Be Afraid” and “Be Not Afraid” headlines juxtaposed to show the mixed signals from the administration (not sure when would be the best time to pull the terrorism card out?)
This article said Napolitano got a tip on Thursday morning and she told reporters at that time that there were no credible, specific threats because they hadn’t yet sorted out whether this threat was credible. According to the article, many intelligence analysts still don’t find it credible because there are discrepancies in what the informant claims, but at some point Napolitano decided she should announce it right after O’s speech.
I read somewhere that Shep Smith was saying that O’s speech went short and they wanted to keep the republicans from being able to respond to the speech so they had DHS claim there was a credible terror threat.
Everything these people do is a publicity stunt. We have no way of knowing if ANYTHING they say is true. The falsifying of Obama’s birth certificate, the secret disposal of Bin Laden (followed by that same unit getting shot down in a helicopter), and the newly-revealed evidence tampering/obstruction of justice in the Fast and Furious case.... all of this is the behavior of people to whom nothing is sacred, least of all the rule of law and truth.
"Just a lil' bit."
