Rick Perry: "The Promises and Platitudes' Aren't Going To Cut It"
ABC News ^ | 09/08/2011 | Michael Falcone

Mr. President, we cannot spend our way to prosperity, it does not work.”

Perry said he has a “record of change” whereas Obama only offers “the rhetoric of change.” Though he spent most of his brief remarks assailing the president, Perry vowed to continue to contrast himself with his GOP rivals too.

Perry, who mixed it up at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Wednesday night with the other Republican presidential hopefuls, particularly Mitt Romney, acknowledged that “we’ve got our differences.”

“We’ll talk about them,” Perry said, adding “hopefully in a very respectful way.”

“I stood on the stage last night with seven other very, very fine and great Americans and every one of them would better than what we have in the White House today,” Perry told the crowd, “any one of them.”

Few in the crowd seemed to be concerned about Perry’s use of the term “Ponzi scheme” to describe Social Security despite the criticism he has been drawing even from other Republicans. (Perry did not use that phrase on Thursday.) In fact, some of his supporters appeared to be embracing “Ponzi scheme” as a rallying cry. Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson, a Perry backer, who spoke ahead of the governor, praised Perry’s use of “provocative language.”

And Micki Blair, a teacher from nearby Corona, Calif. who said she was leaning toward Perry in the primary, agreed.

“I don’t think his rhetoric is too strong,” she said. “I think that people are mature, have a brain. They can figure out that if you don’t put enough in, you can’t pass it all out. It just doesn’t work that way.”

Perry will remain in California through the end of the week. He has a full schedule of fundraising events in Southern and Central California and the Bay Area.

Ever notice these 'bots frequently contradict themselves with their talking points?

ARNOLDBOTS TALKING POINTS
1) This ain't your daddy's California. A conservative simply CANNOT win today's California. EVER. No matter what the circumstance. Ain't gonna happen. A RINO is the best we're ever gonna get out of this state. We must all get behind a RINO because ONLY they are ELECTABLE!!
2) California will CEASE to be a one-party state if we elect the almighty Arnold. Arnold will make it COOL to be a Republican again! Over 60% of voters cast ballots for a REPUBLICAN candidate for Governor in 2003!! That puts California IN PLAY for the GOP. Arnold will make this is a RED state and campaign for George W. Bush in 2004!! The Democrats will be running scared once all our conservative candidates on the ticket have ARNOLD supporting them!!!

PERRYBOT TALKING POINTS
1) Rick Perry said he was "fine" with gay marriage becoming the law of the land because he respects STATES RIGHTS. EVERY controversial issue on the planet (like gay marriage, abortion on demand) is the SOLE responsibility of the states and can be magically resolved if we simply "send it back to the states" and wash our hands of it (worked great for slavery?).
2) States have NO right to secure their OWN border. Indeed, Texas should NOT try to pass an AZ-style immigration law. Send it back to the feds to deal with! That is COMPLETELY the federal government's job and Rick Perry shares absolutely NO blame for the zillions of illegals living comfortably in his state and getting subsidized tuition from Texas.

Just a few random thoughts on the election and candidates.

Right off the top I find it odd that Perry claims to be so wildly opposed to the economic policies of Mitt Romney would choose a man who has supported Romney in the past to be his economic advisor.

I also find it odd that team Perry and the media are trying so hard to get rid of Bachmann when Romney is the supposed threat. They say the race is too crowded and they want Bachmann gone but Paul, Cain, Gingrich, Santorum, McCotter and others can stay. There is something very odd about trying to eliminate the competition before a single primary vote has been taken.

And for the Palin supporters. I’ve always stood in defense of Sarah Palin and I suggest that you should see Michele Bachmann as an insurance policy just in case Palin doesn’t run. If Palin does run, I have no doubt that Bachmann will get out of the race pretty quickly. On the other hand, if Palin doesn’t run, its pretty obvious that we’re going to be saddled with Perry or Romney and quite possibly both.

Perry spoke against a border fence at the recent GOP debate, spouting some trite nonsense about ladders.

He has also opposed e verify for employers.

He gave in state tuition for illegals.

Texas can keep him.

In time you will throw away the blinders and realize how great a politician he truly is.

I have no blinders on; I can already see what a great politician he is. But a great politician is exactly the opposite of what we need now. We need a statesman--like Ron Paul.

Nah, I’d say the Palinskyites take the cake as to not having any clue as to what a primary is.

Most call for her to take her time and start running for the primary at any time she wishes... after all, “it’s more than a year till elections”.

And if you point out that primaries start in the first week of February; well, then... it’s *PURGE* time.

Hell yeah! You ought to look at the Constitution sometime. And the Constitutional amendments.

If there is something written in the Constitution about an issue, then it is a Federal issue. And securing the borders against invasion is specifically addressed in the Constitution.

As for the rest, it's not mentioned, so it's left to the states.

I don't know why any Conservative would support anything different.

Reagan didn't declare he was running until November of 1979 so "it's more than a year" really means nothing. And, while I am not a Palin supporter, I don't blame them one bit for holding out for someone more conservative than the pro-ILLEGAL alien candidate, Ricardo Perrinista.
