At least 500 Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview and broke out windows in the guard shack, according to Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha. As men wielding baseball bats and crowbars held six guards captive, others cut brake lines on boxcars and dumped grain, according to Duscha.

That’s an interesting twist, indeed. It doesn’t alter the fact that the new contractor is union and now they are fighting with each other. Nor, does it alter the kidnapping and terrorizing of private security guards, vandalism and more.
No. I mean giving them special breaks not generally available to everyone. You can’t grasp that’s never works out?
Only a harbinger of things to come. Been reading about the last days of the old Weimar Republic lately - Quigley's Tragedy and Hope. Few people realize just how murderously violent those years were. Opposing factions were killing each other by the thousands. We're right on the edge of that here.
Still think you're free?!?
So in your mind EGT is somehow wrong for trying to run it’s business profitably. Did EGT do anything illegal? Did they break any contracts that they’d commited to?
Well cupcake..
The union thugs did do damage, commit violent acts, and break laws. They should go to jail and the union pay restitution.
If you union pinheads do enough damage to the firms you service, eventually they will go out of business or move elsewhere. Then, good luck finding a job - let alone a featherbed overpaid gig aka a union job.
You are all damn fools.... lazy, narrowminded, uneducated, pompous, and braindead fools.
Oh, by the way, after 35 years in engineering management, I have yet to see ANY value in unions... NONE. Basically the incompetent led by the criminal.
Absolutely not. These thugs should be dealt with. Also government picking winners and losers should be dealt with. They inevitably pick weasels to support.
Well cupcake, giving selected jerks special breaks is what Obama is all about.
They should settle this dispute in court. If the union is correct, they would get the wages as damages they would have otherwise earned without having to lift a finger.
I wonder if the dispute is about the possibility that the trains are unloaded at the port and then loaded onto the ships using some automated system. If a man does not have to actually handle the product, is it longshore work?
It won't be necessary.
I that part of Washington State most grown men have a CCW and, most of them won't put up with this sh!t.
It's as red neck as any part of Mississippi.
That's very succinct and quite accurate!
Unless he wants to start a trade war with them ("bring the factories back home for UNION labor!"); in which case the question is, does he realize it will quickly devolve into a cyber, then a shooting war; or are the above his actual aim?
Cheers!

Men?
I can grasp that, but don’t agree with the link to pro-Longshoremen slant of this news story. You know, those are the thugs yelling about “crony capitalism” and the automation of the port facility that exports products made and grown in the US.
Yea, that’s what I said when I posted it. But isn’t it interesting the fat greedy finger of government is involved too?
I read the articles. It sounds more like the ILWU’s last hurrah.
No.
This incident should have resulted in multiple union goon deaths.
Union contracts typically have a "Cannot work in your trade and state if there are layoffs (for the workers, the Union Boss is the last to turn out the lights when they plow the company under).
Some states will let the saps temorarily draw UI, which presents a conundrum if there's plenty of openings in non indentured servant firms.
The thing to be aware of in a thug commie - worker/business relationship is that the worker can work one day and the morning of that day, you can get laid off, and realize that you can no longer work in your trade without leaving the state.
No wonder "Union" is associated so often with "Thug", that'd piss off anyone...and today there's hundreds more workers that feed their family - *Union Rules*
Speaking from personnel experiences in 2 states.
Isn’t this the same dock that had hundreds of anti-war, anti-American maggots protesting and blocking the loading of tanks, trucks, and other sundry military equipment, on the MSC ships a few years ago???
I seem to recall some very similar tactics and actions by them at that time as well...
