Is there no double-standard depths to which the liberal media won't sink when it comes to provocative political speech? Nojudging by the pitiful performance of two MSMers on today's Morning Joe in defending James "take them out" Hoffa.
Newsweek editor Tina Brown brayed that we must not "sanitize" political speech or take the "juice" out of it--all the while condemning Michele Bachmann and Glen Beck for some of their remarks. And the preposterous Mike Barnicle somehow defended Hoffa on the basis of the "context" of his remarks. Say what? Hoffa was introducing the President of the United States!

Have you been able to determinie if Detroit Mayor Dave Bing was in the audience for the speech, and if so, why didn't Obama mention him when he was running through the list of names at the beginning. If Bing wasn't there, why not..I can understand the Governor not attending..but the Mayor...that's unusual..and Bing was a big-time BB player. to boot....
Hi Ken:
I will have my crack team of photo analysts comb through all the event footage ;-)
Mark
I look forward to some Republican using language which “crosses the line” in the coming weeks. I wonder what words will trigger the media outrage?
LOL....I’ve done a little bit of searching..and couldn’t find out either way...tis curious..at best...
Saw it. Mike Barnicle basically said “It was Sarah Palin... thats what we do, we slam her” not others. It was stunning. Mika however has been very balanced on this, lol :)
Agreed: Barnicle’s comment was hard to beat for inanity. It was if he was justifying the double-standard—”well, of COURSE we beat up on Palin!”
Mike Barnicle? The plagiarist?
Let’s test their defense of Hoffa!
“Hey Jimmy!”
“Bring it on, and let’s see how your coward thugs react to being out numbered and out gunned!”
How’s THAT for “free speech”?
Boston Globe Controversy
In 1998, Barnicle resigned from the Boston Globe amid allegations of fabrication and plagiarism, respectively, in two of his columns. The first column, from October 8, 1995, recounted the story of two sets of parents with cancer-stricken children. When one of the boys, a black child, died, the parents of the other boy, a white child who had begun to recover, sent the dead child's parents a check for $10,000. When the Globe could not locate the people in the story, who had not been publicly identified, Barnicle insisted nonetheless that the story was true. He said he did not obtain the story from the parents but from a nurse, whom he declined to identify. Walter V. Robinson, a Pulitzer Prize-winning editor then in charge of the Globe's "Spotlight" investigative team, was unable to match a recorded death with the date of death claimed for the child.[2]
The second column, more than 80 lines of humorous observations dated August 2, 1998, contained observations from the 1997 book Brain Droppings by George Carlin.[3] After Barnicle said he had never read the book, the editor of the Globe issued a temporary suspension. However, after WCVB-TV subsequently aired a video clip of Barnicle recommending the book to viewers, the editor called for his resignation; this was rescinded under fire from readers and the suspension period doubled instead.[2] Barnicle has also been criticized for his tone in columns about Boston area mobster Whitey Bulger and for his friendship with Whitey's brother Billy Bulger.[4] [edit]
Then they shouldn’t whine when the tables are turned.
Hey, Mr. and Mrs. “Independent”, Do you support Mr. Hoffa, Jr.’s civility?
“Mika however has been very balanced on this, lol :)”
Mika’s feminism crashes into her hatred for conservatives when it comes to Palin. I’m surprised Mika’s head hasn’t exploded over the media treatment of Sarah Palin.
Mika’s histrionics make Morning Joe harder and harder to watch for me.
They shouldn’t. He’s a moron.
Ken, haven’t heard/seen anything in local news, one way or the other.
Strange, very strange.
Gonna ping you to another thread for some news..
