The Rick Perry - ACORN connection explained: A primer for non-Texans
EnterStageRight ^ | Sept. 5, 2011 | Linda Prussen-Razzano

In 2005, the Texas State Legislature passed HB 1823, which allowed people with a Contract for Deed to refinance their mortgage and convert the Contract for Deed to a Deed of Trust. They were then able to get out from under the terms of the contract, transfer title to their name, and assume full responsibility for their property and their lives. There were a number of steps homeowners had to take to comply with the law, and they were obviously responsible to pay the mortgage, but it gave homeowners greater power over their property.

ACORN, which supported HB 1823, praised the Legislature and Governor Perry for passing it.

So when folks go around bashing Governor Perry for signing these bills just because ACORN supported one of them, it tells me they are all hat, no cattle, and a person to be pitied. They are obviously not a Texan.

HA! Funny because it’s becoming very clear Perry is a flip-flopper just like the rest of the RINOs.

I know. I’m of course talking about the laws she passed making it much harder for illegals to live in AZ not to get to AZ.

You may be right. There are many things I don’t like about Perry. It’s why I didn’t send him any cash even when Sarah was supporting him.

I see this ACORN thing as poorly chosen pandering by Perry. I don’t see it as a big deal.

Why don't you start here.

And then look at what the program is costing Texans.

Perry's skipping out on the DeMint forum..........he's taking a cram course in "debating."

Perry's specialty is "Animal Science."

======================================

The gifts from Perry keep on coming.....Open Borders, DREAM ACT, sanctuary cities, ACORN subprime mortgages, ROOTY supporter.

And now this...finding out Perry was a Texas A&M Yell Leader AND a Ross Volunteers in the Corps of Cadets...thus accomplishing e-v-e-r-y goal he set for himself in college.

PERRY'S COLLEGE GOALS

No. 1...to graduate.

No. 2...to be Yell Leader (cheerleader).

No. 3...to be in the Ross Volunteers---Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.

THE FINAL TRIBUTE---a Perry chia pet.

Yeah, it did at that. Fleeing for no dang reason.

But then, libtards (like illegals mooching of the government’s tit) tend not to reason so well.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the cost in those articles. You know, the dollar amount this is costing.

The closest thing to it was in the second article, which stated:

Texas awarded about $33.6 million in state and institutional financial aid to those students between fall 2004 and summer 2008.

That, of course, is the total amount of financial aid given to *ALL* students. Which is, as you know, different than charging in-state tuition. Whether any illegal actually got financial aid in any public university is never addressed in the article, either.

And it is very telling that something so political explosive would be omitted.

Plus, considering Perry's very vocal and physical support of the 10th amendment, I have doubts that he'd even consider bringing this up at the national level.

Sounds like you look down on Animal Science as a university degree.

I don’t particularly find that amusing, as I got my degree in Animal Science (Poultry)...

I am interested in the research you find. I wonder if you’ll have the guts to actually admit who/what Steve Holtze is. Then, how low will you stoop to defend him. This is the guy who who said it doesn’t matter if an immigrant gets here by “hook or by crook”....

It is SO disgusting that the ONE ISSUE that ALL Conservatives should be in agreement on is the sovereignty and national defense of America. And now many conservatives are totally selling out because they just HAVE TO HAVE a candidate to worship. The defense of Perry and his liberalness has gotten pure SICKENING.

Stop being pusillanimous cowards and TELL US WHO YOU SUPPORT

This demand always puzzles me, whether it comes from Perry supporters, Palin supporters (like me), Bachmann, Cain, or any-other-candidate supporters.

It's a strawman. The discussion isn't about who one supports, the discussion is about whether or not a perceived flaw in a candidate is real or not.

I will admit that with particularly vitriolic Palin detractors, I'm tempted to fling back at them: "So, Mr. know-it-all, just who do you support??" until I stop to think: why am I asking that? Answer: Because I'm being defensive. I like offense better.

Now I know that the behavior of a candidate's supporters speaks volumes about the candidate, so I could tell myself that it's a good reason to ask of someone who's knocking my candidate, "Well then, who do you support, bub?" But because the answer doesn't matter, the person can easily lie with a careless shrug. CASE IN POINT -- a week or so ago, a Palin detractor was posting a popular falsehood (the so-called "oil windfall profits tax", which is a myth) as a "factual" reason not so support her. Someone (not me) demanded of him, "Well, then, who do YOU support?" and he said he was just a poor ol' DeMint supporter.

Now, I knew that in fact, this poster had FOR YEARS been posting that same lie about Palin. He wasn't posting that lie now because he was hoping DeMint could get a leg up -- he was posting that lie for the same reason he'd been posting it for the past two years: he doesn't want anyone to support Palin.

So, again -- I don't care who someone supports. I DO care about the validity of the charges they're making against a candidate, whether it's my candidate or not.

Unfortunately no amount of facts will deter the Perry-bashers, because they are not upset with Perry because of the “issues” they are claiming, they know full well, they are spreading misinformation. They just want to knock Perry out in the primary, so Obama will have an easier time beating the GOP nominee.

It's way, way, way too early in the game yet to tell if you're a typical Perry supporter. But man o manischevitz, in the post I quote above, you are every bit as loathsome as the vast majority of Romney supporters revealed themselves to be by the end of 2008. Clairity, if you ARE representative of the caliber of folks who support Perry, then Perry should be shunned, and the sooner, the quicker.

Wow! I have marked this post for later, closer perusal in trying to understand the Perry-ACORN connection and whether or not it’s worth getting bothered about. Thank you for such a good contribution to the thread.

Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot? 0boma isn't trying to earn my vote; Perry is.

THANK YOU for saying it so well!

Just my two cents ... a degree in Animal Science is nothing to sneeze at (whereas a degree in Poly Sci is good for sneezing into, wadding up, and tossing in the trash can, IMO! {^)

That Perry earned a degree in Animal Sci is a point in his favor! Now, his nanny gov't Gardasil move, his taking the same side as ACORN (as you so ably illuminated in an earlier post), and his willingness to speak at a La Raza event, are all things that I find pretty disturbing about Perry.

It wouldn't be the first time Slick-Rick has skipped out on a debate. He refused to debate opponent Bill White in his last gubernatorial election.

Good to know.

I'm sure "ACORN" will be added to the list with "Democrat" "HillaryCare," "Al Gore" by the roving misinformation bandits.

I just would like to know EXACTLY WHO these serial Perry haters are supporting?

Imaginary Ideological clones of their own limited minds that somehow have superpowers and Jedi skills to bend the minds of all opponents and push aside all resistance, invent and instantly distribute unlimited free energy, solve every debt, command the skies to give perfect global weather, end all diseases, cats and dogs living together...

They are clueless, self-absorbed ankle biters and would throw stones at Jesus Christ Himself for not being ideologically pure enough for their tastes.
