In 2005, the Texas State Legislature passed HB 1823, which allowed people with a Contract for Deed to refinance their mortgage and convert the Contract for Deed to a Deed of Trust. They were then able to get out from under the terms of the contract, transfer title to their name, and assume full responsibility for their property and their lives. There were a number of steps homeowners had to take to comply with the law, and they were obviously responsible to pay the mortgage, but it gave homeowners greater power over their property.
ACORN, which supported HB 1823, praised the Legislature and Governor Perry for passing it.
So when folks go around bashing Governor Perry for signing these bills just because ACORN supported one of them, it tells me they are all hat, no cattle, and a person to be pitied. They are obviously not a Texan.

Understand the dog ate your homework... Kindly refrain from injecting hyperbole into the discussion forum; this noise distracts from any merits that Governor Perry might bring to the Office. Be an advocate for advancing the ideas of why someone ought to vote for your favorite candidate.
With that said, Governor Perry carries seriously heavy baggage with the illegal immigration/border issues along with a history of corporate cronyism. Reading the tea leaves in Chicago from attending the African Arts Festival; 0bots are already priming illegal immigration/corporate cronyism as the explanation for high black unemployment.

Yes, because the fact she is NOT a candidate would kind of explain how she can't be considered a candidate. And that would make your objection look silly. Can't have that, so let's just tell people to ignore the facts.
Palin has CHOSEN not to be a candidate at this time. Palin supporters should support her choice, and not keep pretending she should be treated like a candidate. If Palin wants to be considered a candidate, she'll announce her candidacy. It's easy enough to do.
To begin with, Perry is a highly accomplished, esteemed Governor with a strong, positive record. His fairly low name recognition ratings with very high positive image ratings, with his good speaking ability, caught the Public’s attention almost immediately.
Palin has been labeled and defined as inexperienced, a quitter, caries a 96% Name Recognition rating with very low positive image ratings as a candidate. She is not a very good public speaker and has a raspy, somewhat annoying manner of speaking.
Palin’s already well known image is her biggest obstacle. Her decision to remain aloof and non committal is also her biggest downfall. She pretty much blew it when she decided to to things “her way”. She can enter all she wants, but there is now little chance that she will go anywhere and it will also ruin her future in politics. She will suffer the same political fate as Thompson and Giuliani.
Somehow I think she knows this and is the main reason she is not already in the race. The polls clearly show it. I mostly hope she understands that if she gets in, it will do far more damage for our side in regards to winning back the White House.
38% of Texas is Hispanic. Only 6.7% are illegal. Conservatives don’t attack hispanic americans by pretending they are all illegals.
I think she can recover and become a contender, but not in this election cycle.
She needs to reenter political service and complete a term or two.

Well, I won’t be one of them. I think Sarah Palin would be the best thing since sliced bread to hit our Oval Office. She will damn the torpedoes full speed ahead.
I can’t tell you how many republican women are sold on the democratic krap that she can’t win the election when she was outpolling Obamajaad by 3% already in 2008 in only three weeks until McCain blew it and dropped everything to support the TARP bill...and nobody even knew her name.
It’s enough to make one want to go postal, to hear republicans carrying the lies for the democrats against our candidates.
However, don’t get me wrong...I know Rick Perry’s stances like the back of my hand as I’ve worked closely with his office on issues that affect my county. The only difference between Palin and Perry is that Palin will come out of the chute with guns blazing, and Perry is a persuader and a plodding son of the soil.
As far as the amnesty krap, I’ve heard Sarah Palin make the exact same statement as Perry on immigration reform. That we cannot speak to it until the border is secure and the influx has stopped.

First, that's not a 10th amendment issue. Second, he didn't force it down anybody's throat. But other than that, nice try.
It is also not what his actions said when he was pushing the Trans-Texas Corridor by using Imminent Domain to take/steal thousands of acres of land of the citizens of Texas.
Takings for public use are a constitutional action. People get paid for their land, so it's not stealing. Roads are built all the time, and property IS taken and paid for all the time. If enough people object, roads get moved/changed/cancelled. As happened in this case.
Government taking land to build roads is not a conservative bogeyman. It needs to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Perry has been talking 10th amendment since way before he started running for President. He is well-known for his 10th amendment stances, his fights against the federal government. It's in his book, written well before he started thinking about a presidential run.
He backed a law in 2009 asserting Texas sovereignty under the 10th amendment -- that's 2 years ago, before he even ran for his 3rd term as Governor.

He doesn’t like people on capitol hill telling him he to run his state.
And he has never been afraid to say so.
He got Obama down her to Texas twice and he thumped him in his narrah chest both times.
Has other candidate done that face to face?
Why? He doesn’t need her support right now, so she has time to evaluate how he does, and whether he can make it on the national stage, before she decides whether she needs to run or not.
Or she could just want to be president more than she wants Perry to be president. Or she might not think Perry would be a good president. We can speculate all we want, but evenutally Palin will actually make an announcement, and then all the speculation will have been for naught.
I give Sarah Palin’s words a lot of credibility — she isn’t going to call someone a true conservative if she thinks he’s a lying weasel.
Obama has some more splaining to do than Perry,

I actually think the Perry supporters don’t care if Palin gets in the race anymore.
You are right that she needs to rebuild her image. If she serves a full term as a Senator, then she may become a contender again. But first, she needs to bury that Quitter stigma she has created for herself. It would also help if she would take speaking lessons and polish her delivery.
More importantly, she needs to drop the hard line Populist rhetoric. She comes off as a radical and turns off the majority of the electorate. Reagan was a strong Conservative but he was careful not to wear that on his sleeve and turn moderates and independents off by it.
Americans are very particular that way. Being a smooth speaker is 75% of a candidates appeal. Reagan was the master.
I'm not a mind reader like you, so I have no idea why the photo-op was done. From what I've read, ACORN pushed this bill, and it passed essentially unanimously, and so Perry invited them to the signing.
When the NRA pushes something really hard, and it passes, sometimes they get invited to the signing ceremony.
ACORN has a constituency that is a LOT LARGER than just the illegals living along the border, although I don't think Perry was going for THAT constituency either.
I sure hope Sarah Palin in her years in office never invited the wrong type of people to a signing ceremony. It's getting pretty rediculous when you have to stop a signing ceremony to think "How will this be used against me in 5, 10, or 15 years when I might be running for another office and someone sitting in this room might eventually be found to be an undesirable?
The job #1 is to get rid of Obozo.
Job # 2 Clear the rats nest of appointed Officials and get a Conservative Senate.
#3 Clean out the SC and make States rights rule.
