In 2005, the Texas State Legislature passed HB 1823, which allowed people with a Contract for Deed to refinance their mortgage and convert the Contract for Deed to a Deed of Trust. They were then able to get out from under the terms of the contract, transfer title to their name, and assume full responsibility for their property and their lives. There were a number of steps homeowners had to take to comply with the law, and they were obviously responsible to pay the mortgage, but it gave homeowners greater power over their property.
ACORN, which supported HB 1823, praised the Legislature and Governor Perry for passing it.
So when folks go around bashing Governor Perry for signing these bills just because ACORN supported one of them, it tells me they are all hat, no cattle, and a person to be pitied. They are obviously not a Texan.

IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
So long as you believe that polls are meaningless, you can also believe that all the attacks on her did nothing to weaken her appeal to the country.
I wish you well in that -- I won't even argue the point with you. If she enters the race, we'll see if you are right. I hope you are.
Meanwhile, you are in for a rude awakening if you really believe that the media wont' say anything bad about Sarah Palin because they already did it before. I bet they have even new smears ready. They won't be any more truthful than the stuff being thrown at Perry, but it will need to be refuted nonetheless.
That wasn’t the question you asked me. But I do understand your reluctance to give credit where credit is due.
Look.
We have washington dc stacked from top to bottom with Chicago cronies and now the new head of the IMF (also a chicago thug) is leaning on us for QE3
They are robbing our children blind.
I guess there isn’t a republican that won’t be smeared in the attempt to tear down anybody who might be competition to the candidate you prefer.
You know, the first time you try to point out some conflict of interest, it is fascinating, and people check out your links, and research, and dig, and get opinions. They find out you were wrong, but they can see how you misunderstood, or how you couldn’t get all the facts, and it is forgotten.
The second time, the same research, only with the idea that you might be wrong again, and when that is confirmed, they begin to wonder why you can’t do your own research better.
After the third and fourth time, people get tired of having to spend hours researching things you flippantly declare, only to find time and time again that when all the facts are known, your charges are plain silly.
After that, we just start ignoring you, and praying for those you smear with your attacks, because we all don’t have all the time in the world to keep proving you wrong again and again and again.
So, given what I’ve learned from all your other attacks, I am going to just assume that if I research the names of the people involved here, I’ll find out that contrary to your assertions, they are good businessmen who employ hispanic americans, who would find it harder to employ people and make money if an arizona-style law was passed, and that their concern was the amount of additional regulatory burden it would put on them.
If you want to dispute that hypothesis, then why don’t you for a chance actually DO the research, take one of the names, and PROVE that they are actually employing illegals and using their connections to stop from getting caught. Then we can discuss your evidence, rather than us wasting our time with your innuendo.
Her latest attacks on the GOP is also serving their purpose quite well. I also believe they hope she enters the race because it will cause incredible chaos among the Conservative base between her, Perry and Bachmann. Romney could pull another 2008 and sneak in the back door.
Greetings mylife:
And what non-Marxist could disagree with those points? Excepting many FReepers holding the 9th Amendment as far more important than the 10th.
Regardless, a Governor Perry “I’m not as bad as 0bama” platform just doesn’t cut it. As noted before, Perry comes with heavy baggage.
Cheers,
OLA
Well stated.
His baggage is light.
You cant be serious.
Perrys baggage is that he doesn’t machine gun down Hispanics at the border.
Really?
What is your problem with 38% Hispanic population?
Excuse me, but that was never signed into law, and I just don’t get the fear about “Little girls”
Nice propaganda pic though.
Whats next? He got rich from Merck?
"I would rather have four more years of Barack Obama than Rick Perry. Seriously."
But mostly, people say they would vote for Perry over Obama, but some say they'd never vote for Perry in the primary.
To Blue Ink: I don't mean to pull you into this discussion, I just wanted to give you a courtesy ping since I cited a post you made. I apologize if this causes you any difficulty, it's not my intention.
We have a tiny tent. /s
Well, if she enters, we’ll see how it goes. Until then, I guess it’s all speculation.
That SOB! He looked at a medical threat and made a questionable decision based on PROTECTING The population.
When The constituency balks he capitulated, and let me remind you the constituency aren’t Doctors either.
Palin’s idea of turning Washington upside down and shaking it, is an arrogant pipe dream. We will need every able bodied legislator available from both parties to get together in one common goal. We won't do it any other way.
Once again, she has offended and angered a whole lot of people on both sides. Especially the side she claims to represent. There is no way on God's green Earth that she can win this way.
I'm conservative, and I wouldn't vote for that RINO Perry if he was the only candidate we had.
Yosemitest : I'm sorry to drag you into this, but I referenced a post of yours, so pinged you as a courtesy. It is not my intent to attack you, or to move your discussion to this thread; you were simply the answer to a question that was being asked.
