In 2005, the Texas State Legislature passed HB 1823, which allowed people with a Contract for Deed to refinance their mortgage and convert the Contract for Deed to a Deed of Trust. They were then able to get out from under the terms of the contract, transfer title to their name, and assume full responsibility for their property and their lives. There were a number of steps homeowners had to take to comply with the law, and they were obviously responsible to pay the mortgage, but it gave homeowners greater power over their property.
ACORN, which supported HB 1823, praised the Legislature and Governor Perry for passing it.
So when folks go around bashing Governor Perry for signing these bills just because ACORN supported one of them, it tells me they are all hat, no cattle, and a person to be pitied. They are obviously not a Texan.

I visualize it like this; The fact that Perry has left a massive record of actual governing activity, says a lot about how hard a worker he is, as well as how dedicated he is to serving his country, state and community.
For any other American to even attempt to take on a work load like this, they would either give up or collapse. Yet those who make the most outrageous attacks on him, understand the least how much he as done as Governor. He has not been perfect, not every active and hard working governor ever is.
These brutal attacks from our side on his character are not honest or fair. He is too good a man to be disrespected in this way. They need to stop because the enemy will use them against us every way they can.
You dont get it.
Sorry, I misinterpreted when you said “I don’t want a rabid President”.
Once again, YOU mentioned it, hence my response. If it wasn’t an issue, why did you bring it up? See that is what I don’t get about you guys. YOU post stuff, we refute it, and then you tell US it isn’t important. How strange....
Amen
My mistake.
It’s late.
Oh, fun. Yet another thread with an "explaination" for us "non-Texans" who have been "mislead" by evidence of Perry supporting liberals... we just "don't get it" cuz we're not from Texas.
I bet the "primer" goes something like this...
What's common knowledge here in Texas is that EVERYONE and his brother was an ACORN member when that photo was taken. And by everyone, we mean everyone. You HAD to support ACORN to get elected in Paint Creek in those days. Rick Perry had NO CHOICE but to sign ACORN legislation in a big photo-op with them. Furthermore, don't confuse the national ACORN agenda with Texas ACORN. Texas ACORN is different. In fact, Texas ACORN is a CONSERVATIVE organization. Heck, it's the most conservative organization we have in Texas! Everyone knows this, it's common knowledge if you talk to any Texans (well, except the 50% of Texas freepers who think Perry sucks, we ignore them and we also ignore the primary results showing oodles of Texan conservatives can't stand Perry). Anyway, Texas ACORN is probably to the right of most national Republicans. Jesus is for ACORN! Oh, and looks, here's a photo of Sarah Palin with Rick Perry. Support Rick or you HATE Sarah!!
Oboy! here come the Howitzers!
Listen Billy boy. You cant impeach Obama until you have the Senate.]
I wish it weren’t so but that is the way it is.
We need to take the executive and the senate. What is your plan?
From the state of Obama....
My plan is to nominate a candidate who isn't a GWB clone and who has won elections in states that aren't guranteed safe for the GOP. Perry can barely get elected in a super safe GOP state against laughable opposition, he'd be very weak running against a powerful Democrat machine in a swing state like Ohio or Wisconsin.
Of course it's pointless to list all the candidates running who fit that criteria, as the Rick Perry fanclub will insist he's the only person on the planet who is "electable" and anyone who dislikes him is either a Paulite or "waiting for Sarah"
And your state gave us LBJ. What’s your point?
You own the current turd in office.
Isn’t that the way this game you Perryphobes play?
I heard that, immediately after 9/11, Democratic leaders praised Bush for uniting the country. Doesn’t it bother you that they praised Bush for that?
(same stupid argument)
John Kasic is doing very good things in Ohio.
I was just in WI for my Sons graduation two years ago and was stunned to see that we drove from Ohio through Indiana without BS but then got taxed to hell with toll booths and shitty roads in Illinois.
We then crossed to Wi and Lo and behold! The roads were good again and there were no toll booths.
I dont want to hear it
Thank you for posting and getting this information out there.
I dont think I drove 2 miles of un****ed up road in Illinois
It also means she doesn’t have the money to run against Obama... if she were running, which she isn’t (yet).
Exactly!
And the Federal government smacked them back down, now didn’t it?
